On a cold summer day just starting from the end of spring in a town that is always quiet and still. Coming from up the road around almost midnight, a big Car comes plowing through the puddle's of water that had formed a few hours ago from rain splashing them all over the road on it's way going to a big old house at the end of the town. The town's name was Old Red-cherry and the town looked like what it was called, old and the houses were all painted in a cherry like red. Pulling up to the house and stopping in front of it, a back door of the car opened and a kid named Jake jumped out of the car "Have fun this summer at you're grandparent's this year Jake, OK?" said Jake's mother. But Jake was not really listening and said "OK" while looking up at the dark pale sky.
Grabbing his back pack from the back of the car he walked up to the front door of the house and then knocked on the door, A few seconds past and he heard the door knob turn. "Hello Jake dear, before you come in wipe you feet" said Jake's grandmother Pearl "And make sure you wipe them clean I don't want you making the floor dirty". After he made sure his shoes were wiped off good he went to the kitchen and ask" can I make a PB&J grandma, I did get anything to eat on the way here and I am starving. “She walked in and said “sure dear but make sure you clean up after you are done and take you're things up to your room". After he made his sandwich and cleaned up he walked up the stairs to his room holding his back pack and when he was about to walk into his room he thought he saw light coming from the end of the hall, he through his back pack on his bed and looked again but the light was gone, he thought he was just imagining the light from the end of the hall and just forgot about it and went to sleep.
The next morning it was a lot more lively outside so he went out to play, on his way out he saw his grandfather James sitting in the kitchen reading a news paper and drinking coffee then looked up and saw Jake "Why hello Jake, sorry I wasn't home yesterday to greet you but I had to go and fix the neighbor piping from there busted toilet" Jake just smiled and said "That's OK I was pretty tired when I came in any way, I am going out to play you want any thing while I am out?". Scratching his head James just said "Hm no but be careful while you're out cause it's still wet out.” not listening to the last bit of what James said Jake ran out the door to play.
It's has Ben six years since the last time Jake came to his grandparents house for a the summer when his mother had to go on a long business trip for the company that she worked for, But he was made because just a few days away was his 12th birthday and his mother would not be there for him. While trying to get that his birthday was just a few days away off his mind he walked into town to buy himself a cola, Just as he was walking out of the drive way to his grand parents house he saw a small object on the ground. Picking it up he noticed that it was a brass key, without care he put it in his jean pocket and continued his walk to town. While on his walk the neighbor’s that knew him said hello and asked how he was and Jake just keep saying to all that asked how he was that he was “Fine”. When he got to the store in town he saw that they were out of cola, so he bought some lemon lime soda and a snack cake.
By the time he got back to his grand parents house all the rain water from yesterday was gone because of the shining sun, so he thought of going in the back to relax but before he could do that he thought that he should ask if his grand parents needed any help. Just as he walked in the house he remembered the brass key that he found and then saw Pearl sitting in the living room knitting while watching T.V, coming into the living room he asked”Hey pearl is this your key, I found it in the drive way” giving the key to Pearl she said “Hm I have never seen this key before, why don’t you keep it. It’s going to be you birthday soon any way, think of it as an early gift”. Saying thanks to Pearl, he almost forgot to ask if she needed any help or if James does. She said that they don’t needed any help at the moment so he just grabbed his soda and snack cake and walked to the back yard to relax a bit in the sun
