The Little Girl
Her parents never took
the young girl to church
never spoke of His name,
never read her his word.
two non believers walking
lost in this world
took their baby with them,

what a sad little girl

The young girls parents didn't take her anywhere. She stayed at home, never hearing of God, never hearing of Jesus. She never even saw a bible. Her parents never told her about, in their minds, was nonsense. She followed them where ever they went, as they had ordered her to. She wasn't very happy.

Her daddy drank all day and mommy did drugs
Never wanted to play
Or give kisses and hugs
She'd watch the TV and sit there on the couch
While her mom fell asleep
And her daddy went out

Her parents were alcoholics, her dad more so then her mom. If she wanted a hug, she had to give it to herself. She had some games, but they didn't want to play. They had "other things" to do, which basically meant going to a bar or sleeping. They told her to sit on the couch and watch T.V.

And the drinking and the fighting
just got worse every night
Behind their couch she'd be hiding
Oh what a sad little life
And like it always does, the bad just got worse
With every slap and every curse
Until her daddy in a drunk rage one night
Used a gun on her mom and then took his life

The drinking got pretty bad with her father. And every time he got drunk, he and the girls mother would start fighting. Occasionally, there would be a slap, or he would shout something at her, then co lapse in a drunken stupor. Every time they fought, the little girl would hide behind the couch, so they couldn't find her.But one day, her dad pulled out a gun, first killing the girls mom, then himself.

And some people from the city took the girl far away
To a new mom and a new dad
kisses and hugs everyday
Her first day of Sunday school the teacher walked in
And a small little girl
Stared at a picture of Him

The girl was taken away from from the small town, and was put with the Evans family. They gave her kisses, and hugs. They even played the games she wanted to play. The Evans had two girls, both named after flowers, and they played together.
Her first Sunday with them, Karol Evans put the girl in a dress, telling her that they were going to church."You will be in Lilys sunday school class,"She told her, when they arrived. In the classroom, the girl saw a picture of a man. This was what she was doing when the teacher came in.

(A/N. the following lyrics are part of the story))

She said "I know that man up there on that cross
I don't know His name
But I know He got off
Cause He was there in my old house
and held me close to His side
As I hid there behind our couch
The night that my parents died"
