CHAPTER SIX Ryoku's Leave Cont.
CHAPTER SIX Ryoku's Leave Cont.

For the majority of that day I just walked around the forest; exploring and getting lost. I seated myself on a rock by a small stream running through the forest, and most likely empting into the river beyond me. I figured that I could follow that stream back to our meeting spot when I needed to return, but I still wanted to think and explore a little more. By the time I got back to the grassy area by the river it was approaching dusk. I may have had a large breakfast but was very hungry.
I saw Ryoku curled in a blanket beside the bushes that bordered the forest. He had left me some food, and by the looks of it he had barely bitten into his share. I walked over to the food and sat down, sighing, then half heartedly ate. Soon after, I crawled over to Ryoku’s sleeping form. I had done this once before, and was nearly knocked all the way into the river, but this time he didn’t even stir. I took a small piece of bread and laid it on his nose. He turned sideways, but did not wake. I assumed he was either toying with me or had been incredibly tired. Growing worried, I poked him once or twice in the face, and when he didn’t wake up grabbed his massive shoulder and shook him. His eyes blinked open and he looked at me.
“What’s wrong?” I asked him, as he sat up.
“Nothing is wrong.” He murmured, obviously still tired.
“B-but you seem…”
“What?” He snapped. I was surprised at his sudden outburst, and I think he was too.
“Oh… I mean- nothing. I’m sorry,” I said, avoiding his sinister gaze. I stood and headed over to the river to sit and watch the river swirl around, and by the time a turned around to steal a glance at him he was gone.

As that day ended and the next one began, there was still no sight of Ryoku. Another day past and I managed to get my own food, make my own fire and practice with my little sword on my own, but I never saw Ryoku. After the next three days I began to give up hope on his return. I couldn’t stay by this river alone for too much longer, especially because the seasons were training and it was getting colder. I began packing by belongings, not that I had many. By sword, a change of clothes, any leftover food, all wrapped inside the blanket.
I looked sadly at my surroundings, and realized that I had no clue where I was heading. I decided to just keep walking. When I took my first step I realized just how heavy my load was, but I clenched my teeth and kept walking. Not to many steps later something landed right in front of me with a thud. I fell backward away from it, and when I lifted my head I saw that it was Ryoku. If I should have been filled with joy and relief, then I must have gotten it all wrong because I was filled with rage. I charged at him, packing as much force into my blows as possible. Ryoku was tall, so I only reached to a little under his waist, and I hit him. He looked at me sadly, and apologetically, understanding my rage. He let me hit him, and I glared through blurred tear filled eyes. I could feel the tears streaming down.
“You left me! You left me!” I kept screaming at him. He squatted down and hugged me, though I kept trying to hit him.
“You’re right. I’m sorry.” He murmured to me in the most comforting voice I had ever heard.
