Erica woke up and stared at the sunlight through her blood red curtains. Yawning, she got up and almost tripped over one of her shoes. She half-heartily kicked to the side and dragged herself to the kitchen. She expected her roommate to be there, but the whole place was quiet. 'Oh yeah... she said that she was going to stay at her boyfriend's house... Wonder how her parents are going to take it..?' She tied her brown hair into a loose ponytail and started to make some breakfast for herself. When she turned on the stove, however, the fire wouldn't start. She groaned and snapped her fingers. In a flash, she had a stream of fire on her finger. She burned her toast that way and reached for a cup. "God... why am I so tired today?" she said, yawning again. She almost jumped when she felt something brush past her legs. She looked down and saw her friend's sister's pet cat.
"Oh, hey Kitsune. Didn't Vanessa leave you any breakfast?" She sighed and reached for the cat food on the top shelf. Since her sister left for Paris, Vanessa was stuck taking care of her pet cat Kitsune. 'Course, Erica was the one that's stuck with cat duty most of the time.
"I can't wait 'till Janet comes back..." She placed the cat's bowl on the floor, and the cat meowed before digging in to the food. Erica continued with her morning rituals as usual, drinking 3 cups of coffee before going off to take a shower.
"HELLO! ANYONE HOME!" A girl with long blue hair walked in, tossing her bag carelessly onto one of the couches. She pet the cat as she walked by."Hey Kitsune. That good?" The cat meowed happily and continued with its breakfast.
"Erica!" She yelled upstairs, but there was no answer. She did hear the water running. She grinned wickedly and snapped her fingers towards the shower. A couple of seconds later, Erica ran out, a towel wrapped around her body, face furious.
"WHAT WAS THAT FOR?!" She chased her roommate around the house, brandishing around what looked like a cross between a lampshade and a baseball bat. After a couple of minutes, she went back to the shower and Vanessa landed on the couch, still laughing. She sat up and turned the tv on. A couple of minutes later, Erica walked out, her hair wrapped in a towel, and her favorite clothes on.
"Are you wearing that to school?" She asked, walking down the stairs and drying her hair out. Vanessa nodded and turned off the tv.
"Let's go. School's gonna start any minute now, and I do not want to tarnish my zero-tardiness policy." Erica made a face.
"You mean your 'I'm-late-but-I-don't-get-detention-because-the-teacher's-my-soft brother' policy?"
"Yup!" Erica sighed and ran back upstairs for her bag. Vanessa picked up hers and waitied for her outside. Erica soon came out and locked the door.
"Well then, shall we go?" They both giggled a bit.
"We shall." And they both jumped into Erica's car and drove off towards their school.
