Once upon a time, the lived an old man, isolated and all alone in his little shoreline cottage. It was just starting to get cold, and the tide was low - too low for this time of the year. The villagers just a few miles back had already heard of the news and had fled to safety, but no one told this little old man of the danger that was coming. A few pelicans and seagulls remained, picking at what little food they could find on the sandy beach. A small wave rolled in, and a sand castle made by a young child just a few hours before was soaked and destroyed. The wind began to pick up, and the birds flew away. The little old man awoke, and looked over into the square of light that was his front door. He took in a deep breath of fresh ocean air, and exhaled it. He enjoyed the smell, but something was different about it. Stepping outside, he noticed the abnormally low tide, then looked into the sky. The sun was barely visible, and was covered by dark clouds. The sight put a gloomy thought into his mind as he walked back into his small cottage.
