-Pudding Fong:
Pudding Fong (黄 歩鈴, Fon Purin?) is the fourth Mew Mew introduced to the readers, though she first appears at the endangered animal exhibit with the other future Mew Mews to help stop bullies from picking on Lettuce.[22] She reappears towards the end of the first volume, performing acrobatic tricks for Ichigo and Masaya at the zoo, then asking them to pay for the performance.[29] When Kish and the Mew Mews begin a battle at the zoo Ichigo saves Pudding from a fall, only to have Pudding push her out of the way when an elephant is about to step on her. Rather than being crushed, Pudding escapes and transforms into her Mew Mew form. Infused with the DNA of a Golden Lion Tamarin, Pudding grows a monkey tail and ears while transformed, and fights with a pair of rings.[30]
At the age of eight, Pudding is the youngest of the Mew Mews, and still acts like a child at times. While working at the café, Pudding regularly does acrobatic tricks, resulting in broken dishes and dropped orders.[31][32] She is full of energy and loves having fun, to the point Mint considers her very immature and the other Mew Mews agree that her monkey DNA is a perfect match for her personality.[33] In the fifth volume, it is revealed that Pudding is raising her five brothers and sisters and managing the family finances, while their father is away to train in the mountains.[34] While the manga does not mention Pudding's mother, the anime adaptation states that her mother died.[35]
When Tart captures Pudding and holds her hostage, she gives him a piece of candy and declares that he is her new "bud."[36] Though Tart later refers to her as "spooky", he also looks at the candy she gave him and laughs.[37] When the Mew Mews face Tart and Pie in the final battle, Pudding asks Tart if they must fight, and while he hesitates a moment, he affirms they must. The Mew Mews defeat the two aliens, and Tart tells Pudding that he never hated her, causing Pudding to cry over him.[38] After Deep Blue's defeat, Pudding is upset that Tart is leaving to return to his own world. She kisses him, giving him a candy drop in his mouth at the same time. She also gives him other presents and tells him she does not want it to be goodbye. Tart blushes and says he may come back to get another candy drop from her.[39]
In the anime adaptation, the relationship between Pudding and Tart is expanded, with Tart being the one who saves Pudding from the underground cavern when he realizes she was suffocating from a lack of oxygen.[40] Towards the end of the anime, Tart catches Pudding when she falls from exhaustion, and Pudding tells him that his presences makes her stronger.[episode needed] She is voiced by Hisayo Mochizuki. In the Mew Mew Power English adaptation, her name is changed to Kikki Benjamin and she is voiced by Kether Donahue.

Ohba said that he introduced Near and Mello together because L individually could not defeat Kira. Ohba felt that introducing one character individually would produce a "repeat" of the struggle between Light and L, so he instead wanted a story involving three combatants fighting each other. Ohba said that he let Takeshi Obata, artist of the series, create the character designs and asked him to make both characters look "a little 'L-ish.'" Ohba said that he "wavered" in their ages and considered making the characters the sons of L. Ohba added that he did not initially develop their personalities as he wanted to "reveal" them through their actions.[3]
Ohba said that he added the chocolate trait because he believed that chocolate "represented all sweets" and that the trait would fit with the story arc in the United States. Ohba described the trait became "useful" during the discovery of Mello's base due to the discarded chocolate boxes.[4] Ohba said that he added Mello's scar to the thumbnails as the trait would give him "more depth."[5]
Ohba recalled that he considered having Mello be the character who ultimately defeats Light. According to Ohba, after the disappearance of Sidoh, the writer "struggled" with Mello's role. He added that the idea of Mello defeating Light was "strong in my mind" and that he thought about having Near as the "best" at Wammy's House and Mello being the final victor and that he decided against this as Mello "learned too much" about the Death Note and therefore Mello had to leave to "sustain the intensity of the story." As a result, Ohba did not give Mello a "large role" at the conclusion of Death Note and instead had Mello negatively affect Light "indirectly." Ohba gave Mello a "very plain" death, depicted in only one panel; he felt that if Mello had perished "dramatically" it would reveal the truth behind his death.[6]
Obata said that, since Ohba wanted to "include a little L" in Near and Mello, he tried to keep "the weirdness and the dead eyes." He also added that since L was an important character, he felt that he made Near and Mello look too much like L. He described the character designs as "a major struggle." Obata said that, when he first heard about Near and Mello, he assumed that Near and Mello would join as a team and work together, so he envisioned the two as twins when he created the character designs. Obata said that at first he tried to depict Mello as having "more energy than Near." At first, Mello's hair was cut straight across; Obata said that he preferred Mello's hair becoming messy, which occurred later in the story. Obata said that he felt grateful when Ohba added the scar since he felt that he could draw Mello "looking cooler."[7] In addition How to Read 13 described Mello as looking "more intense" and "more human" with the scar.[8] Obata said that he felt sad when Mello died in the story shortly afterwards. Obata added that he designed Mello's clothing based on "what I like," meaning clothes he enjoys drawing and not clothes that he enjoys wearing; Obata says that he enjoys drawing "shiny" leather.[7] At the point he created the pages featuring the reappearance of Mello with his scar, Obata said that he "finally" felt that he could draw Mello "really well." Obata added that "maybe" the fact that Ohba and Obata did not regularly meet in person was "best," because if Obata told Ohba that he felt that he finally drew Mello "really well" that Ohba may not have killed Mello.[8] Ohba responded by saying that he probably would have cast Mello as "the hero" and that Ohba often asked the editor if Obata had "said anything" and the editor responded "No, nothing."[9]
Obata added that the designs for the characters became switched at the design phase; the final Mello had Near's design and vice-versa. Obata said that when he created a depiction of the designs, his editor wrote the wrong names accompanying the designs; when Obata received approval he could not say that the labels were incorrect. Obata said that, for him, Mello was "more calm and feminine." He felt that "it's better" that the switch occurred.[10]

Mello with his scarMello is the older of L's two successors raised in Wammy's House, Watari's orphanage for gifted children, in Winchester, England, United Kingdom. When it is decided that Mello should work with the other successor, Near, Mello refuses, citing an inability to work with Near, to whom he is considered second. Similar to L's fondness for sweets, Mello is often seen eating bars of chocolate. How to Read 13 states that Mello has "an excellent mind" and that he "sometimes lets his emotions get in his way." The book cites Mello's "hatred of Near," which created "a flaw in [Mello's] personality." Mello's ultimate goal is to destroy the current Kira and obtain the Death Note so he can rule the world. The book states that "Mello is not purely evil."[11] Tsugumi Ohba, the writer of Death Note, stated that Mello "works hard for everything." Ohba added that Mello's name "doesn't really stand for anything."[12]
Mello is voiced by Nozomu Sasaki in the Japanese anime, and David Hurtwitz in the English version.
Mello decides to find Kira his own way by joining the Mafia. After obtaining one of the Death Notes from the Kira investigation team by kidnapping Sayu Yagami, Light Yagami sets up a raid that leaves Mello badly scarred and his real name in Light's hands. After learning that Light is Kira and Near was going to attempt to apprehend him, Mello kidnaps Kiyomi Takada, but is soon killed by Takada's hidden pages of the Death Note. This action causes Teru Mikami to expose his own Death Note to kill Takada, eventually leading to Light's defeat.
Mello is the narrator of the spinoff novel Death Note - Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases.
Mello was once one of the candidates to succeed L. He lived at the Wammy House Orphanage, which was an orphanage for extremely gifted children, such as Matt, Near, and once, L. Mello always felt inferior to Near, and continuously competed against him to become L's successor. Upon learning that L had died and not chosen a successor, Mello left the orphanage when it was suggested that he and Near work together on the Kira case, saying that Near could succeed L because he would "solve the puzzle calmly."
Four years later, after destroying all photos of himself and hiding all records of his real name, Mello joined the Mafia in an attempt to capture Kira before Near. When he learned about the existence of the Death Note, Mello kidnapped the Deputy Director, Kanichi Takimura, and demanded that the Deputy Director would be returned to the NPA in exchange for the notebook. The Deputy Director was killed by Kira, resulting in the kidnapping of Light's younger sister, Sayu Yagami, who would be returned to the NPA for the Death Note.
The exchange succeeded, and Mello was in possession of the Death Note. The shinigami Sidoh, who was the original owner of the Death Note Mello possessed, traveled to the Human World to retrieve his notebook before he could die. Mello learned from Sidoh, that the 13-Day rule written in the back of the notebook was a fake.
The NPA attempted to retrieve the notebook from Mello, and tracked him down with the help of Near. The Mafia members were killed by Soichiro Yagami--who had performed the eye trade with Ryuk--during the raid on Mello's hideout. Mello demanded over a loud speaker that one member of the Task Force enter the room he was hiding in and hand over the second notebook in exchange for their lives. Soichiro confronted Mello, who threatened Soichiro with a bomb if he did not hand over the second notebook and his gas mask.
Soichiro used the Shinigami Eyes to read Mello's real name as Mihael Keehl, and threatened that he would write Mello's name in the second Death Note he had if he did not surrender and return the first notebook. Mello stalled for time, while one of his men, José, who had played dead, pulled a gun on Soichiro, shooting him multiple times. Mello grabbed the mask to hide himself, and tried to get the notebook from Soichiro, who had fallen on top of it. The remaining Task Force members entered the room, killed José, and tried to kill Mello, who escaped by detonating a bomb, blowing up the entire hideout. The explosion left Mello with a burn scar covering the left side of his face.
Mello then proceeded to track down Halle Lidner, the only female member of the SPK, forcing her to take him to Near. Upon meeting Near again, Mello demands that Near hand over the photograph he left at the orphanage, which Near hands over without a fight. Once he obtains the photo, Mello relays the truth about the 13-Day rule. Near angers Mello, who pulls a gun on him, saying that he is "not a tool for you to use to solve the puzzle", threatening to kill Near, until Lidner tells Mello that "if you kill Near, you won't be able to solve anything."
Mello then tells Near that he has no intention of helping him in any way, before leaving. Mello then tracks down his friend from the orphanage, Matt, who was the third candidate to succeed L. Mello selects a new base and begins working alongside Matt to find Kira. Mello and Matt spy on Misa Amane, who was formerly the Second Kira.
Two days before Near and Light were scheduled to meet each other, Matt approached the NHN building in a red sports car, and threw a smokebomb at Takada and her guards when they arrived at the building. Mello rode up to Takada on a motorcycle, telling her that she would be safe with him. Lidner, who was accepted as one of Takada's guards, assures Takada that she will be safe. Takada gets on the back of the motorcycle. The guards followed Mello, who was following Matt, in an attempt to save Takada. Mello escapes the guards by turning down an alleyway so he cannot be followed. The guards corner and kill Matt.
Mello drives the motorcycle into a shipping truck, and demands that Takada remove all her clothing and place it inside a carboard box, so the tracker on her cell phone will not lead the guards to Mello. Mello dresses in a truck driver's uniform, and drives the truck to the storage building, where he leaves the box with Takada's clothing.
Upon returning to the truck, Mello locks Takada in the back of the truck, and drives to Nagano. On the way, Mello sees Matt's car and body on the screen in the driver's cab, and apologizes to his friend by saying, "Matt... I never thought you'd be killed.... Forgive me." Upon arriving in Nagano, Mello parks the truck inside an abandoned church. He is then killed by Takada, who used a scrap of the Death Note she had hidden in her bra. Takada is then killed by Light, who writes that Takada would commit suicide by setting fire to everything as well as the paper Mello's name was written on, so it wouldn't be found.
When Near confronts Light about being Kira, he credits Mello for helping Near discover Light's plan and therefore able to thwart Light.
-Madara Uchiha:
Madara Uchiha (うちは マダラ, Uchiha Madara?) is the founder of Akatsuki and the first possessor of the Mangekyo Sharingan, a rare form of the eye condition unique to the Uchiha. Though it gave him the strength needed to take control of the Uchiha clan, overuse of the Mangekyo Sharingan left him blind, and it was only by taking his own brother's eyes that he was able to regain his sight. Madara eventually banded together with Hashirama Senju to create Konohagakure. The two founders disagreed on who should lead their new village and after a momentous battle between the two Madara was expelled from Konoha. In later years the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox attacked Konoha, an act Itachi Uchiha states to have been Madara's doing, though Madara denies it. Once the fox was defeated by Minato Namikaze, Madara infiltrated Konoha in secret, trained Itachi, and subsequently assisted him in assassinating the Uchiha clan. Kisame Hoshigaki, upon seeing his face, notes him to be the Mizukage.
Much of Madara's role in the series has been under the guise of Tobi (トビ, Tobi?), who replaces Sasori in Akatsuki after his death. While acting as Tobi he is carefree and goofy as opposed to Madara's usual serious and stereotypically "villainous" self. Tobi's tendency to take credit for other's work and undermine his superiors annoys his partner, Deidara, who either blows up or strangles him in comical fashion as punishment. After Deidara dies during a battle with Sasuke, the only Uchiha to be spared during the massacre, the Tobi persona is temporarily discarded as Madara takes a special interest in Sasuke's development. However, Madara has not completely outlived the use of his guise as he reassumes Tobi's personality on occasion, such as while delaying a group of Konoha ninja.
Though Madara's face as it appeared during Konoha's founding has been shown in full at various points in the series, he always wears a mask in the current Naruto storyline. The mask features a swirl pattern focused around his right eye. His black hair (cut back from his earlier years) is the only constantly visible part of his face. When asked how Madara could have survived since Konoha's founding, Itachi Uchiha states that Madara is immortal. The specifics of his immortality have yet to be touched upon, though Madara implies the potency of his chakra has something to do with it. In battle he has been shown capable of making his body intangible, leaving him visible but otherwise impervious to most forms of damage. He can also teleport over great distances at will. In the Japanese anime, the Tobi identity is voiced by Wataru Takagi.
-Larxene:
Larxene (ラクシーヌ, Rakushīnu?) was first introduced in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories where she conspired with Marluxia to overthrow Organization XIII by using Sora. Larxene wields knives and the power of thunder to fight[4] and is known as the "Savage Nymph" (非情の妖姫, Hijō no Yōki?, lit. "Callous Vixen" wink . She is agile and can call forth bolts of lightning in battle. Larxene is voiced by Rieko Katayama in Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories[12] and Yuko Miyamura in Kingdom Hearts Re: Chain of Memories.
In Chain of Memories, she entices Sora to believe the false memories Naminé implanted in his mind. Larxene later appears to Sora, after he fought the Riku Replica for the fourth time, planning to destroy them all. Again, Larxene mocks Sora for "chaining" himself to false memories of Naminé and the "promise" he made to her. She has a cruel, sadistic personality and enjoys seeing others suffer. She taunts Vexen after Marluxia charges him with treason and incompetence, and toys with Sora before fighting him the first time. After she discovers Axel's betrayal and sees that her and Marluxia's plans have fallen apart, her playful manner vanishes and she attacks Sora in a rage. She is later killed by Sora, Donald, and Goofy.
-Ayame Sohma:
Ayame Sohma (草摩 綾女, Sōma Ayame?), aged 27–28, is the snake of the Chinese zodiac, and Yuki's older brother. Ayame is depicted as vivacious, flamboyant, self-confident, and self-centered, with a knack for annoying Yuki and Kyo (one of the few things they initially agree upon). In an author's note, Natsuki Takaya described him as a draining person to meet in real life.[107] Despite his age, he refers to himself with the boyish pronoun boku (see Japanese pronouns). He has gorgeous eyes (green in the manga, gold in the anime) and silver hair similar to Yuki's violet eyes and grey hair.[72] He runs a shop, named after himself, that sells custom-made "romantic costumes" with the help of Mine Kuramae, his seamstress and girlfriend. He is best friends with Shigure and Hatori, who are the same age; Ayame and Shigure like to pretend that they are lovers,[72] while Hatori is the only one, according to Shigure and Takaya, who can restrain Ayame's worst behavior.[108][107] As the snake, Ayame is especially susceptible to cold.[72] When Ayame was in high school, he was president of the student council,[108] and is proud that Yuki is following him.[109] Ayame fears the "nothingness" of not being acknowledged.[109] When Ayame was young, he completely ignored Yuki until he realized that when he got older, he would be totally alone without his brother, spurring an obsession of gaining Yuki's love.[109] He does this by doing things such as embroidering "Lives for my older brother" on the back of Yuki's shirt. As the series progresses, Yuki slowly starts to accept Ayame as a brother, and even tries to understand him. When Ayame is freed from the curse, the first thing he does is finally embrace Mine.[18] Takaya derived his name (normally a female name, meaning iris) from the fifth month, ayamezuki or "month of falling irises," which is the month of the snake, of the traditional Japanese calendar.[101] Voiced by: Mitsuru Miyamoto (Japanese), Chris Sabat (English)
-Shia:
Shia is a demon (manga) or a demon apprentice (anime). She is gentle, kind-hearted and isn't very good at being malicious or killing humans. She's generally weak all around, even more so when her staff becomes broken under Misha's influence. Shia's seiyū is Yukana Nogami.
Manga — In the manga, Shia is older than Misha. She was friends - and eventually lovers - with Taro Higuchi, Kotarou's great-grandfather at age six (physically). Shia was adopted by a family as a very small child when she was abandoned, and named Shima after she cried that out every night in her sleep (she was actually crying out her real name, Shia, although Taro and her adopted family still referred to her as Shima). As a child, she caused bad luck everywhere - and it took Taro some time to teach her that she wasn't a demon and a jinx (although, in actuality, she was). Her home was then burned down by local rebels (her adopted parents where westerners), she along with her family disappeared, much to Taro's sorrow. Later, Shia and Taro meet again, Taro was now a young adult while Shia still looked like a child. Shia and Taro got back together and eventually fell in love, producing two offspring, Kotaroh (uncle of Kotarou) and Shino (Kotarou's grandmother) - which makes Shia Kotarou's great-grandmother. As Shia refused to drain humans, she became steadily weaker until she almost attacked her child Kotaroh, so she went back to Nya and left Taro. In the present day, Shia has returned to the human world to find "something she's missing". Nya now accompanies her as a black cat. Upon encountering Kotarou she feels drawn toward him. She later drains him, but restores his lifeforce after an intervention by Misha, who offers some of her own limitless lifeforce in trade. She found herself living with Misha as she had nowhere else to go, and became distracted from her goal while looking after Kotarou. Eventually she found herself a part-time job and almost settled down until Nya and a picture of Kotarou's late mother (who bore a strong resemblance to Shia's old family) reminded her of her mission and she left without warning. Kotarou and Misha managed to seek her down at Kotarou's great-grandfather's house. While there, Taro (Kotarou's great-grandfather) died in his sleep. Shino and Kotaroh, the younger Kotarou's grandparents on his mother's side, had already died, and he stayed with his aunt. Kotarou's aunt also reveals that he's the only living male member of his mother's bloodline, which hints at an infirmity in the males passed down the bloodline, possibly related to the capacity for supernatural sight Shia bestowed on some of her descendants. Kotarou and Misha found Shia and told her of Taro's death, and Shia realised too late what she was searching for. She then understood that she had a family with Kotarou, Misha and all her new friends and decided to stay in the human world after saying goodbye to Taro. Nya warned her of the consequences of leaving, but Shia refused and stayed anyway. However, Shia was very weak and died before they could even get home. Nya took away her body, saying that she was truly an amazing demon, hurting many in their most vulnerable area, including his own. Kotarou only learned she was a demon after she had left for Taro's house, when Sasha informed him. Misha already knew but just didn't care. Shia is very gentle, loving and has a motherly disposition; she was the one who calmed down and helped Takashi, cared for Kotarou as his own mother did and although she died, she holds a place in the hearts she helped.
Anime — In the anime, Shia had a considerably less complicated past. She came to Earth as a demon apprentice and Nya played the part of her mentor. Shia got a part-time job in a restaurant and cared for the children like a mother, eventually taking the place of Kotarō's mother. After helping children in a local hospital, Shia and Nya both realised that she could never be evil, so Shia was erased from the universe by the other demons. All but Misha and Nya forgot about her (as Misha is an angel) and eventually Misha resurrected her (which caused Misha to be deleted from the universe for doing so). By the end of the series, Shia was a human and continued to happily work her part-time job. Uematsu, Ten-chan, Misha and Kotarou learned that Shia was an apprentice demon early in the series, when she absent-mindedly told them after they spotted her using her powers - Sasha found out when she first laid eyes on Shia.

[edit] Part I [edit] Chunin Exams Anko announced this during Ibiki Morino's speech, after she made a rather loud entrance into his class, annoying him since she was early. Anko is easygoing, tomboyish and sometimes hyperactive, making her very similar to Naruto in many ways. According to the official databook Anko's favorite foods are sweet bean soup and dango (dumplings). Mitarashi and anko are ingredients of dango. Her least favorite type of food is spicy-tasting food. Her hobby is tea ceremonies and her favorite phrase is "Arriving!"
During the exam, she arrives at a confrontation with Orochimaru and it is revealed that he used to be her sensei. Anko, along with nine others, were branded with Orochimaru's first ten Cursed Seals of Heaven. Of the ten, Anko was the only one to survive, establishing the one-in-ten chance of surviving the Cursed Seal. Orochimaru supposedly rejected Anko as a subordinate, believing she did not have the lust for power or vengeance needed to fuel the Cursed Seal. Orochimaru lost interest in her, though he believes there is some value in letting her live. Orochimaru was able to reawaken her cursed seal during their battle in the Forest of Death, thus incapacitating her with pain and ending their fight. Anko knows several forbidden techniques taught to her by Orochimaru, the most notable of which is Twin Snakes Mutual Death, a murder-suicide technique she attempted to use to eliminate her former sensei in the Forest of Death for the sake of Konoha. She can also summon snakes like he can, though she only does so once during the Sea Country filler arc. In that instance, she summoned a blue version of one of Orochimaru's normal snakes.
[edit] Sea Country In the anime, Anko's past is explored during the Sea Country filler arc, in which she leads Naruto, Ino, and Shino on a mission to protect a shipping convoy. The Sea Country is where Anko was found after Orochimaru had branded her with his cursed seal and subsequently abandoned her. Orochimaru had also erased any memory Anko had of the event, so this was a chance for her to remember. After the mission, Anko finds her way back to the place where she received the curse mark from Orochimaru and remembers what happened. She discovered that she wasn't tossed away like trash, but chose to leave Orochimaru herself.

Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮 ハルヒ, Suzumiya Haruhi?) is the title character of the Haruhi Suzumiya series, created by Nagaru Tanigawa and developed into a media franchise. First introduced in the light novels, which were then adapted into two manga and an anime series, with a forthcoming sequel, she is the main focus of the series. In an interview with Tanigawa, he stated that the idea for her character came during a sleepless night at the beginning of the 21st century.[1]
In the beginning of the story, she is initially shown as anti-social and displayed various personality quirks, but as the series progressed, she became more open with her emotions, whilst still remaining highly active. She became the founder of, and recruiter for, the SOS Brigade, forcibly enlisting Kyon, Yuki Nagato (the only member of the Literature Club), Mikuru Asahina, and Itsuki Koizumi. She is responsible for organizing most of their activities as a group.
Unbeknownst to her, she has the power to change, destroy, or create a new reality based on her inner desires and feelings. She is described in various ways; Yuki states that she has 'the potential for auto-evolution', Mikuru believes that she is the originator of a large time-quake and finally Itsuki declares her to be 'God'. Due to this, she is the main focus of the Integrated Data Entity, the Organization, and an organization of future humans.

Haruhi Suzumiya, a first year student at North High School (in novels 1- cool , and second year (in the 9th and latest novel), can be characterized as funny, eccentric, and somewhat unpredictable. In the series, she is introduced declaring her interests in aliens, espers and time travelers and does not care for 'ordinary' human beings. The last thing on her mind is a normal high school life. With a burning desire to find such phenomena in the world, she is generally unapproachable and finds ordinary people boring and uninteresting. As a result of this, many of her classmates choose to avoid and confront her. She deals with her emotions by creating a parallel universe, where she inadvertently releases transparent creatures who tear up and destroy everything that comes into contact with them. Espers are the one who can stop these creatures by cutting and destroying them, because if these creatures are left alone destructing everything, as well as the outer barrier it could affect the outside world. She also likes to dress up Mikuru in random outfits.
Kyon is the first character to engage with her in a serious conversation. From this encounter, she gradually begins to soften up to others and starts to open up with her classmates. Later on, Haruhi took Kyon against his will and forced him to help her start the SOS Brigade, thus she has taken an unbeknownst interests to Kyon later in the series. It is hinted that one of the reasons as to why Haruhi opened up to Kyon was that he resembled John Smith. It is interesting to note that John Smith and Kyon are the same person.
She is noted as smart, athletic, and naturally talented in any extra-curricular activities. She once joined every activity club in her school and quit because she found them boring, despite pleas by the club members for her membership. Her musical talent was highlighted when she stood in as the emergency lead singer and guitarist, along with Yuki, for the band ENOZ during the school festival.
Her childhood is cited as an originator for her interests in strange phenomena.[2] While attending a baseball game with her family, she was shocked to see the vast number of people who had come to see the game. Before then, she had often thought of herself and her life as being special and interesting, yet then came to realize that they were just ordinary normal occurrences and habits and that she is just one of many living human in all of Japan in which Japan is just part of Earth. Consequently, she believed then that there must be at least one person in the world who is living an interesting and truly unique life and sought out to effectively be that person thus motivating her to seek out the extraordinary.
After this realization she became notorious in middle school for doing odd things which included painting strange hieroglyphs all over the school grounds using a field marker and placing all the school desks in the halls. Additionally, she accepted and rejected every guy who had ever asked her out, the longest lasting a week and the shortest being five minutes. She only seeks relationships with aliens, espers, and time travelers. This shows the depth of her interest in finding non-humans and strange phenomena.
In actuality, Haruhi is believed to be either a crack in the space-time continuum, the first technological singularity to be spontaneously born in the universe, or some sort of deity, depending on point of view. This belief stems from a massive spontaneous universal event that occurred three years prior to Haruhi meeting Kyon, of which Haruhi is said to be the cause. The event attracted the attention of three prominent groups: the Extraterrestrial Integrated Data Entity, time travelers from a distant future, and a group of espers known as the "Agency".
Her powers which are capable of altering, creating, or destroying reality are triggered by her emotions and inner desires. It's been theorized by the espers that the current universe may be just one in a string that Haruhi had subconsciously created. In order to relieve stress whenever she becomes too emotionally unstable, patches of alternate dimension referred to as "closed space" are created and within resides gigantic blue entities that destroy the surrounding area. Despite having these powers Haruhi is completely oblivious to them or the existence of aliens, time travelers, and espers.

At first, Haruhi seems very indifferent and cold but underneath that front she is very spontaneous, upbeat, and hyperactive. Her determination, persistence, and resourcefulness drive her endeavors of finding strange phenomenon and promoting the SOS Brigade. Because of her dedication, she becomes hot-headed when things don't go her way. Hand-in-hand with her cleverness and creativity, and a certain ruthlessness, even seeming amorality, she can often get what she wants, an example of such is when she blackmailed the Computer Society President into giving her a brand new computer for the SOS Brigade. Haruhi tends to pursue her goals regardless of who gets in the way, or is hurt, such as Mikuru in the aforementioned blackmail. Right and wrong seem immaterial. She also has a tendency to be jealous and angry when Kyon gets too friendly with any girl. Evidently, the universe was almost destroyed and recreated when Haruhi's jealousy was pushed too far.
Haruhi also has a very competitive personality and accepts without hesitation any challenge that crosses her, regardless of difficulty or time constraint. Her constant optimism and over-confidence make her seem arrogant. She has very high standards and won't accept anything less than perfection from herself and her Brigade. She places a lot of trust in her Brigade members, especially Kyon, to get the task done whatever it may be. This can sometimes make her seem selfish and unkind.
She is not shy and often attracts a lot of attention to the point of not minding changing clothes in front of various people, more so when her SOS Brigade is in mind. When it comes to Mikuru she is very physically playful. She often comments on Mikuru's attractiveness and seems to find a kind of enjoyment in exploiting it to her own ends, often through forcing Mikuru into and out of various costumes such as a bunny girl costume as if she were a human dress-up doll.
Haruhi also seems to hate showing signs of vulnerability to others. Following her concert performance at the school's culture festival when she and Yuki filled in for two members of the band ENOZ, Haruhi showed awkwardness towards the band members when they thanked her the following day. As Kyon pointed out, Haruhi was not used to receiving praise from others because of how mischievous she regularly acts towards others because of her abnormal interests.

Haruhi is the founder and "Brigade Chief" of the SOS Brigade, or Spreading Excitement All Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade (世界を大いに盛り上げるための涼宮ハルヒの団, Sekai o Ōini Moriageru Tame no Suzumiya Haruhi no Dan?). She was unable to find any existing club suitable to her preferences. She made the group in order to find and have fun with aliens, espers, and time travelers. Upon creation, she names herself as its leader. Her method of finding and recruiting members is to "voluntarily arrest" them then force them to join.
The SOS Brigade is very precious to her and she has since stated to Kyon that she has no intention of yielding her position as Chief to anyone else. She will go to any lengths, even by exploiting the members, to bring attention and support for her Brigade such as procuring room and materials, maintaining their website, participating in sports tournaments, organizing activities such as city-wide searches for strange phenomenon among other things. She wrote, produced, and directed the Brigade's amateur-movie The Adventures of Mikuru Asahina for the school festival.
However, unbeknownst to her is the true purpose of the SOS Brigade: to prevent Haruhi from becoming bored, as her boredom would bring about the end of the world as the SOS Brigade's members know it. Kyon also happens to be a very important person in her life. For whatever reason, Haruhi "chose" Kyon. This is first said by Yuki, then restated by Mikuru, and Itsuki as well. She often relies on and trusts Kyon with anything. Kyon is the only person whom she has been open with, and when she briefly created a "new world", he was the only person she had brought over from the "old world". These are all made evident in the fourth novel The Vanishment of Haruhi Suzumiya, where she remained at Kyon's side for the three days he was in a coma due to a small accident. However, he is apparently worth far more to her than even she realizes. Unknown to her, the person she knew as John Smith, who "helped" her draw weird symbols at the schoolyard of East Junior High (her old school) at night on Tanabata three years prior, is in fact, Kyon from the present time, sent back in time. Furthermore, his time there unintentionally created an alternate timeline where no SOS Brigade existed, Yuki, Mikuru, Ryoko, Itsuki and Haruhi were normal humans and the latter two never transferred to North High, thus no SOS Brigade. Only by going back to that night again was Kyon able to set things right. Finally, should Kyon reveal to Haruhi that he is John Smith, it would radically change everything, as he stated to the Integrated Data Entity through Yuki.

Haruhi's voice actress, Aya Hirano, won the "Voice Acting Award" in the Sixth Annual Tokyo Anime Awards[3][4] and a nomination for the "Best Actress in a leading role" category from the first Seiyū Awards. She also portrays Haruhi in the radio dramas. In the English version of the anime, she is voiced by Wendee Lee. Aya Hirano reprises her role as Haruhi in a Haruhi soda commercial in Lucky Star. Konata Izumi, whom Aya voices in Lucky Star, is a fan of Haruhi, and cosplays as her on one occasion. Aya also performs a "live concert" of "God Knows..." in Lucky Star.

Mitsukuni Haninozuka

A short, cute, but exceptionally strong 18 year old senior, Mitsukuni, or often referred to as "Hunny", is a very childish and cake-loving boy who is much older than his elementary school appearance would indicate. His height is 4'9", and his blood type is AB. He can be confused with Fruits Basket's Momiji Sohma (coincidentally, they both have the same seiyus in the anime). Hunny is often around his cousin, Takashi, or "Mori", whom he is very close to. Hunny lives with his father, the owner of a famous dojo and his little brother, whom he is often at odds with. He is very fond of eating sweets and his room is full of stuffed animals. He always carries around a bunny named Usa-chan(Bun-Bun in English). He used to hide his true self (with much difficulty) by being a "real man" for some time, but after Tamaki convinced him that liking cute things wasn't bad, he soon realized that there was absolutely no need for him to hide his true self. Then, together with Mori, he joined the host club, attracting customers with his loli-shota cuteness. His nickname, Hunny, could have come from his name Mitsukuni (光圀), because the abbreviation to Mitsu (蜜) means Honey or from the fact that the beginning of his name Haninozuka is "Hani" and pronounced "Hunny".
