I recently completed a term of service in AmeriCorps*National Civilian Community Corps. The program is a national service program run by the federal government that takes 18-24 year olds around the country doing various work projects for non profits and schools. But the purpose of this description isn't supposed to be a recruitment, it's supposed to explain how I wound up in New Orleans. New Orleans is an amazing city, and it changed me in so many ways. So I tried to sum up my feelings about it in a poem. But I couldn't, not really. So I let the city do the talking for me. Quite a few of the words you'll find in here are street names in the city of New Orleans. I'll try not to telegraph which ones are and aren't, because you really should see them in person.
