The loss of Emwor was quite a shock to me, but I continued my journey nevertheless. No more pokemon would die because of my arrogance; not if I could help it. With only Maturin at my side, I sought new teammates in the grass leading to the Indigo Plateau and managed to catch another Rattata. I know keeping Tattle alive could never make up for Emwor's death, but maybe I could get over a little of the anxiety if she I'm successful in this.

We trained together for a little while, careful and cautious of the unexpected turns of events. Sure, my feet hurt from running back and forth so often, but Tattle's still alive and that's totally worth the blisters. We returned to the road to the Indigo Plateau, intent on taking a little peek at what would be in store for us, but that obnoxious brat, Gary stopped us.

He explained that a guard wouldn't let him by and took this chance meeting as an opportunity to battle again. Admittedly, I was frightened. His Pidgey managed to rough up Maturin quite a bit, but Tattle was amazing. His Bulbasaur didn't stand a chance against her. We were victorious once again.

Once that little nuisance was out of the way, we moved on to the Viridian Forest--along the way, Tattle managed to accidentally fell a Pidgey that I had my eye on, unfortunately. I have heard stories that this place housed pokemon with stingers that dripped with poison. I hoped and prayed that we could avoid them.

During the exploits in the forest, I managed to add another member to the team, Papillon the Metapod. The cocoon unfortunately only knew one move and it was non-combat. Needless to say, the training was long and grueling.

A few hours of training and we exited the forest. Papillon was now a Butterfree and Maturin had learned Water Gun. Brock really didn't stand a chance.

We strode into the gym, eliminated the trainer that stood in our way to Brock, and then Maturin swept the leader's team without taking a single scratch. Our first badge had been obtained, and it felt glorious!

Now, it's on to Mt. Moon...
