Waiting...
Life is a waiting game. We wait to be created. And once created we wait to be born. 'Though no one remembers either. After birth we are unconsciously waiting to speak; so that we can share what's on our minds, to walk; so that we may get to where we want to go, to run; so we can get there faster. Once we have reached those markers we begin to wait again. We wait to learn to ride a bike, to make friends, and to learn new things in school. When we are ten we start waiting for our sixteenth birthday. The chance to get our license, to get our first car, to drive where we want to go. After we reach that milestone we wait to turn eighteen; so we may be considered adults, to finish high school; so we can move on to the next stage in our lives, to be 21; so that some might be more like the adults around us. We wait to get jobs, to get paychecks. We wait to be in a relationship, even though most don't work out. We wait to find that special person. And once found we again wait to take the relationship to the next level. What we wait for at this point is marriage. After you and the one you love are married, two become one. Your life is hers and her life is yours. Then the two wait. They wait for two to become more. After the birth this new life begins to wait. For speech and mobility. For friends and education. For freedom and respect. And as this child waits and grows older, as does his parents. As the parent grew older they watched their child grow and wait. Life is a waiting game. There is no limit to the things we wait for. There are however some things we don't have to wait for. God's love and kindness. God's mercy and grace. God's patience and wisdom. God is the only thing we don't have to wait for. For He is already here.
