Well, it was yesterday, but oh well! It was a great birthday, even though it started out a bit rough. Xp

What I Got:
Some origami paper, a MisaL picture, a card, and $10 from Li.
A card and $20 from my Mom.
A Gamecube, two controlers, and a Paper Mario game (and $5 later) from Chris, my brother.
and a card and $10 from my Grandma.

Ha, it's not too much, but I think some of my friends may give me something today... I'm not sure though. I'm happy though, with my Gamecube (which I'm kinda calling it my "X-cube" XD) and my origami paper. =D

My cake was the best too. I'll post some more pictures later when I can get to them.

Ok, now here we go! This fic is an idea that has been in my head for some time... In the beggining of volume 5, what if Light's Dad really did shoot Light and himself, leaving Misa in the car all by herself? >> <<

Title: In the Absence of Light

WARNINGS: This talks about dead bodies a lot. So if you don't like that, don't read this.


Her eyes widened as the gun aimed at Light's forehead, tears starting to flow down her cheeks.

"Light, we're both murders, so we'll see each other in hell." His father whispered harshly.

Misa shut her eyes as quick as she could, her sad attempt to block out the terror before her. She bowed her head, as if to pray, but still she heard the gunshot and a groan of pain. Nothing could have prepared her for when the lifeless body of her boyfriend slowly slumped towards her.



His body was cold now, his head resting stiffly against her thigh. Tears and blood stained her shirt, while her hair was limp and had none of the Misa Misa bouncy-ness that it normally had. She thought it was bad enough being all alone, bound and helpless, but it was even worse now being in the company of Light.

There was nothing that she could do, nor was there anything she could have done for him. All Misa can do is wait for someone to find her, her in a car with her dead boyfriend and his father, for someone to take her away only to her execution. She had no hope for the future and was reminded of that every time she happened to look down.



Her hands were cramping up as they were still bound by cold metal behind her back. Slowly, she tried easing forward so that she could slip her arms into a more comfortable position. However she froze when her moving caused the corpse beside her to move, a cold hand falling from where it rested down to her ankle. Instantly she felt sick, but Misa has to be strong, just keep breathing and try not to notice that there are two dead people sitting in the car with you. There was also no good place to throw up if she had to, so she held back.

It seemed like an eternity to her, but finally she was able to open her eyes and not see the world jolt around her. This had to be hell.



Light was very proper and tidy. When she saw his room, it looked not like a room of an average college student, all a mess with trash, paper, and clothes thrown about like a tornado just came through. It was one of the first things that she found out about him, that order was so important to him. 'Cleanliness is next to godliness' he told her once.

There was a smell in the car now, but she couldn't find out what it was coming from, nor did she really want to know. It could have been Light or his father, but Misa herself felt like she was rotting. For all she knew she really was. All she could hope for was to die soon. Not just because in the afterlife she would see her god, but she would be free of this horrible torture.

Her head rocked backwards and she looked blankly at the ceiling of the car.



It was a wonderful dream, truly wonderful. Nothing could be better for her than seeing Light in her dreams. She and Light were walking up some stairs, her hand grasped in his. He flung open a door and everything was so bright and loud. People were cheering and laughing as they walked through the door onto a building's rooftop. Misa smiled as everyone congratulated her for finally getting married, finally settling down with the one she loved, for starting a new life where Light was everything. Most of the people there she did not know but they were happy for her anyway. One person caught her eye, as he was wearing only a white shirt and jeans, his hair a black and wild mess. But Light pulled her along to the huge white wedding cake and once again he was her world. They smiled together as someone took pictures of the happiest moment of their lives.

She bounded forward as a small thump woke her up. Something in the front seat had fell to the floorboard with a clatter. The only thing that came to mind was the gun, but Misa didn't want to think of that.

Misa just don't want to think about anything.

Title: Not a Criminal

Chapter Three: Trap Desk Drawer

She was depressed for the rest of the afternoon.

The next day, she finally was able to go back into Light's room. His journal on top of his desk beause she didn't want to put it back in that drawer.

Now that she knew there was a rotten apple in there, it nagged at Sayu. 'Just clean it up, and it wouldn't bother me'. So she got up and retrieved some cleaning supplies from the kitchen.

It was harder than she thought, trying to get the large drawer out of the desk. After a great deal of tugging, it pulled free and landed on the floor with a thump.

That discusting, sickly sweet smell erupted from the drawer once again. She plucked the rotting mess out and quickly threw it into the trash bag. With a wash rag, she slowly cleaned the inside of the drawer.

She turned it over, so she could also clean the bottom in case some of the apple leaked through, but instead she heard an odd slosh sound, accompinied with an weird smell.

"What...?" Sayu knows you're not supposed to hear sloshing in a drawer, so she lightly probed the bottom of it.

Her fingers traced a small hole, a little bigger than a toothpick. It was hardably noticable. Quickly, she searched for something to fit in the hole and found a thin screwdriver along with the cleaning supplies. She picked back up the drawer and put it halfway back into the desk. Then she poked the screwdriver into the hole.

The false bottom popped up to reveal a hidden compartment. Sayu gasped at her discovery and looked in the drawer.

Inside, she found out what made the sloshing sound and the smell. It was a thin bag of gasoline with some sort of electric device and wires around it. The device looked broken, however, as it was cracked right down the center of it.

'What kind of contraption is this', Sayu wondered, 'and what is it doing in my brother's room?'

Something else caught her eye inside of the hidden drawer.

It was a single crumpled up peice of faded notebook paper.

Eh, long wait, actually. I've kind of came at a dead end with this fic. I have an idea floating around, but now I need to find it again. XD And then add on to it and figure where the heck I want to go with this fic. Xp

Chapter Two: Searching for a Ghost

"Dang-it!" she growled as she clinched her fists. She was in her brother's room, on his super fast compuer searching for anything and everything on Kira. Thankfully her mom was out shopping with some friends, or she'd flip if she found Sayu on Light's computer, touching his sacred stuff.

One would think that searching for information on Kira would be easy. But it really was not. At least, not when you're looking more worthwhile information. The only stuff about Kira now is people saying that "Kira will return!" and other worthless gossip.

"I'm not going to give up though!" Sayu said, determined once again, and took a sip of her coffee.

Now that she felt more charged, she slamed the mug on the desk and was going to get back to the search. But a curious sound from the desk stopped her. She peered down at the drawer. A key was in the lock, begging for her to open it.

Slowly, she turned the key and opened the drawer. Instantly she flinched back, a horrid, rotten smell attacking her sences.

"Oh, god, what the..." Sayu started. She finally looked into the desk and saw a rotten, brown apple near a diary. Quickly she snatched the book and closed the drawer to block out that horrible smell.

As her heart started to slow down again, she inspected the book. Only a small corner of it was sticky from the juices of the apple, so she covered that area with a tissue and opened the diary of her dead brother.

Reading the book calmed her almost instantly. Things Light did, some books he needed to read, and little happy family moments were all recorded in a neat cursive print on the pages.

Sayu read on and found that her brother was trying to solve the Kira case. 'Finally', she thought, 'a link between them, my brother and Kira!' As she eagerly continued, she noticed the tone of Light's words changed a little. Everything, it seemed, he did revolved around finding Kira.

An entry towards the middle was harshly marked through. The only words that could be visible through the thick black was 'I' and 'Kira'.

The next entry was dated many years later.

"M and N comes after L for a reason."

The riddle's meaning was beyond her, but tears came to her eyes as she realized that it was the last entry, dated only month before his death.

It was raining as she walked to the graveyard to visit her brother. She shivered as the cold water hit her hood. This encouraged her to walk faster.

Light's cause of death was still not known to her or her family, but Matsuda said something about a heart attack. That meant Kira. So her brother was killed by that maniac? Kira killed criminals though.

And she knew without a doubt, her brother was not a criminal.


Chapter One: Chocolate and Clues

When Sayu finally arrived at the small graveyard, the rain had stopped, leaving the sky a depressing gray color. She was slightly puzzled as this graveyard wasn't the family gravesite. Her father was buried elsewhere, but her brother was here.

There was many graves and very few people visiting them. One person did catch her eye. He had short, curly white hair and wore all white. She looked at the grave he was visiting. 'Mihael Keehl' it said. What a weird name, the thought.

Sayu passed the boy and a few graves down was her brother's resting place. Underneath his name on the tombstone, it said "May his light shine on."

"Oh, Light..." she said as she knelt infront of the grave. This seemed to catch the white haired boy's attention.

"You knew him?" he asked softly.

"Yes, he was my brother."

He seemed to think about this as he twisted a curl of hair around his finger.

"And you are?" she asked him.

Again he paused before answering. "...just call me Near. Oh...!" Sayu was going to question about such a weird name, but Near reached into his pocket and pulled out a chocolate candy bar. He turned to the tombstone before him.

"Sorry I only have one this time. You need to cut back anyway," Near said with a smile and placed the candy at the grave of Mihael Keehl.

He cleared his throat and looked back at her, "So his sister, huh? You're... Sayu, then?"

Sayu gasped. "How do you know my name?"

"I knew a lot about your brother. He was really smart." As he said that, he frowned like he didn't mean it.

"Do you... do you know how he died?"

Near didn't answer at first. He seemed to analyze her, looking her up and down and looking into her eyes. It made her uncomfortable.

"First he was shot, but that wasn't what killed him. It was a heart attack."

"S-shot? I didn't know he was shot..." she gasped.

"There are a lot of things you don't know about your brother. Things you're better off not knowing." Near said solemly and started to walk away.

"Wait! Tell me! I want to know! I want to know, he's my brother!" Tears started running down her face.

"I won't tell you, but I will tell you this: your brother's death has something to do with Kira." Near turned back to her. "So search for Kira and you'll find out. Search everywhere, and if you find something, I'll give you clue. It'll be a game." He smiled.

"But how will I find you?"

"Don't worry, I'll contact you."

Sayu puzzled over Near's words as he walked away.

YAY!! My old Gaia friend, MooCowing, just gave me a Mochi puppy! <3 In his thread about giving away his seal slippers, one of his first things he was going to give away was the Mochi. In the end, I gave him 2k gold, 1k tokens, a cow bell, and some paint avi art. XD You see, we're supposed to bribe him and beg. lol

So yeah! I just had to tell the world! =D

In other Chibi news, I've moved into a new room in my house! Lemme dig up the pictures...

Ok. I have to say this.

DEATH NOTE ANIME ROCKS MY SOCKS RIGHT OFF MY FEET!!!

Seriously, they just blew right off my feet and I can't find them. Shame, they were my favorite pair... XD

Anyway... I've watched the first episode a few times, and loved it. But that was the raw, and when I got the subtitled one today... it's so much better! (But, I'm just listening to it right now... XD)


Today was kinda a dreary, cold day... so I stayed inside all day. Only going outside of my house to take out some trash... I mainly cleaned my room (only a little <3), did my homework while watching .hack//sign... and almost falling asleep during it!

Then, mom and I went to Jersey Mike's, an awesome sub shop btw, and ate there. The tea was a little wonky, but the subs are GREAT! I couldn't eat all of it so I have the other half for later! domokun

And then after that, mom and I went to Belk's (clothing store) where I got a cute long sleeve shirt. Which is surprising because I normally don't find clothing I like there. Then we went to Bookland where it was like Christmas. XD First I saw DramaCon book 2. Cue me squeeing. Then, Kingdom Hearts Chains of Memories book 1. More squeeing. Loveless book 3. Big squee. And then I see .hack//Another Birth novel number 2. Even bigger squee. XD I was only able to get DramaCon and .hack, but it was worth it. =D

DramaCon was pretty good, but I think it felt like it was too short... I'm almost half-way finished with .hack, and it's pretty good too. I'll probably get KH later.

*yawn* Well, it's cold outside of my room and I want to read and watch .hack....

Well then.... for the people who are out of the Gaia loop...

I'm back!! =D

I've been back for... maybe a month? So yeah. It rocks.

I've been abusing using my mules, mainly pluto_kiss, and I'm on a quest to get tickets for him... I'm getting my mules pretty. Except that one. She's going to me my n00b mule, I guess.


Mmmmm.... in random me news:
I may get a cell phone soon! =D Eeeee and I'm going to get the same phone company as my great awesome friend Li, so I can talk to her for days and it'll be okay and free!! XD

I'm taking a class at my community collage. Western Civilization. Our teacher is somewhat insane. He talks and talks and talks.... and makes random connections with what we're talking about with something that's happened to him. It's weird! Oh well. I do get to get out of school early and then I get to go to the library on the days I don't have to go to that glass... w00t!

Death Note is easily my favorite anything right now. Yes, FMA is still awesome and big to me, but Death Note is just WOW and I'm spreading the love. I've letting people borrow my manga of it because I want to talk about it! XD

Oh and don't get me STARTED on my Library Assistant class at school. Long story short: they kicked me out! Switched me to a sewing class! Why? Because I wasn't doing what they wanted me to do. Why is it a big deal? They never told me until they said they're moving me to a different class that I wasn't doing what I needed to do. So, when my dad and I go to the principal on this, I'm so going to tell him that we need new library people b/c all they do is stay in their offices and talk and act crazy and don't really do anything in the library. They leave that to little ol' me. The only one there checking books out and showing students around and dusting the reference book shelves.
