So I've been in this RP called Revenge for years and years and years, and we've been starting to introduce gods as characters in the story. So, I thought it'd be a good idea to write up the creation myth that explains the origins of the gods and whatnot!
RipCanvas helped me come up with some of the ideas, and Harden and his son are her characters, and she named Selene. Aurora is my character, and I did all of the writing for this story. Enjoy!
---------
In the beginning, there was the sun and the moon. The sun was called Atos, and the moon was Selene, and they loved each other dearly.
The moon was a lush land full of water and vegetation, and was lovingly looked after by Selene herself. Selene created many flora and fauna, and her final creation was the tribal elves. The tribal elves were her favorite creation, and she encouraged them to be inquisitive and to assert their authority over her other creatures, and they dominated that lush wonderland for thousands of years.
Their domination overtaxed the offerings of the paradise that Selene had so generously and lovingly provided, and eventually the land became barren. The rains stopped, and the great seas dried up, and the plants withered. The animals died off, leaving the tribal elves with no food to sustain themselves.
Selene was devastated at the failure of her favorites, and looked for a suitable place in which to send the life that had formerly thrived on her own bosom. She found a nearby planet that was covered entirely in ice, and sent her creatures there, and circled the planet so that she might observe the progress of her children. She called their new homeland Earth.
Now alone with his beloved, Atos’s passion for Selene burned hot, and the ice of the cold and barren earth melted and formed the oceans and exposed the bare land. In remembrance of her own paradise, Selene formed the plants and created a great many animals to populate Earth.
Learning from her former mistakes, Selene set limits on the tribal elves’ hunting and gathering. She and Atos then had two children, and she set her daughter Aurora to watch during the daytime, and she set her son Harden to watch during the nighttime, and together they kept the tribal elves from overpopulating and depleting their new home.
The tribal elves enjoyed the warmth of the sun and mistakenly thought that Aurora was the Goddess of the Sun, and they worshipped her and spurned her brother, whom they called the God of Darkness and denounced him as evil.
Harden, ever a jealous man, began to whisper absurdities to certain of the tribal elves in order to lower his sister in their eyes. In time, fully half of the tribal elves were converted to his worship, and they mounted rebellion against the followers of Aurora. Aurora, with the intervention of her mother, defeated Harden’s elves, and all of the elves were made to pay for their folly.
“If it is darkness thou would worship, then thou wilt live in darkness perpetual,” Aurora proclaimed. She sent all of the tribal elves out of the mortal realm and into a realm where Atos did not shine, and there they have lived forevermore.
And then Aurora created a new species to dominate earth. She made them in her image and called them humans. The humans were not as perfect as the tribal elves, as she is not the skilled weaver of life that her mother is. The humans were larger, and their blood warmer, leaving them open to lust and corruption. They were slower and clumsier, but still intelligent enough to be inquisitive and crafted many tools to subjugate the animals they needed to sustain their life.
This time, Aurora was the creator of life, and was worshiped appropriately by her humans, though she was still incorrectly referred to as the Goddess of the Sun. She largely ignored the praise of the foolish creatures, not one to take to offerings of food or gold. She roamed through the realm in order to keep the peace and to make sure the humans kept the same restrictions that her mother had set upon the tribal elves. When the humans overstepped their bounds, she created famine and drought to keep them within their limits.
Unable to convert the humans to his own worship without his sister discovering him, Harden took a small group of humans and corrupted them. They grew long fangs and became nocturnal, and fed on the blood of humans. He called his creatures ‘vampires.’ And Harden gave them the power to corrupt even more of the humans and make them into vampires as well.
When Aurora heard of Harden’s activities, she was greatly offended. In a fit of rage, she destroyed Harden’s physical body and confined his soul into a great sword to prevent him from further meddling into the lives of her humans. However, Harden’s corruption of the vampires was so complete that she could not change them back without killing them. Ever a sentimental woman, Aurora sent them off into remote places of Earth, hoping to prevent their spread and protect her humans.
During this time, the tribal elves discovered a process in which they could transfer their bodies from their home realm into the realm of the humans. A small sect of elven society decided that they preferred life on Earth and they stayed, and their bodies lost the ability to return to their sunless world. These elves became settled elves, and the tribal elves looked upon them with disdain, feeling that the settled elves had abandoned their realm and betrayed Selene by living in Aurora’s world and among her blasphemous humans, and they called the settled elves “El’ent,” a term of greatest contempt among their people.
During his time where he was imprisoned in the sword, Harden possessed various humans in order to move about and continue his mischief. He began to have his puppets write down his goals for the future, and called these writings his ‘prophecy,’ and hid them among his vampires so that his sister could not discover them.
What Harden failed to realize was that humans who were changed into vampires by other vampires still had lingering affections for Aurora. One such human brought an uncorrupted copy of the prophecy to Aurora, and she was horrified to discover his plans. She placed even greater restrictions upon the magic that sealed him to his great sword.
In time, however, the magic began to decay, and Harden found he could walk the Earth again on days of the new moon, when his mother and father and sister could not watch over him. On those nights he would visit human women and rape them in hopes of having a son that might walk the world and do his deeds in his place.
And that son was born, though he was more human than god. Harden took the boy and made him be born again, and with his second birth, he was a demon. The demon child broke the seal upon his father and ran wild in the Earth, and Aurora had to once more destroy Harden’s physical body, though his soul escaped her wrath, and still roams free upon the Earth, causing mischief.
Aurora used the same magic that had sealed Harden to his great sword to seal away the demon half of Harden’s b*****d son, and still roams the Earth in search of her brother so that she may prevent the horrors of his prophecy from coming to pass.
