My Life
Chapter 4 - December 16th

Luckily for me, the boring video had dwindled on into being a two day thing. I headed straight for biology again. This was definitely going to be the best week I’d had in a while. Even the obnoxious behavior of Andrew was not going to stop me from being happy. He couldn’t do anything to ruin my mood. But, that does not mean that he wouldn’t try. And, boy, did he try. He got all of his friends to fill up the seats around Matt, just so I couldn’t sit next to him. Maybe he should have planned it out a little bit better. Maybe that would have saved him the shock when –
“Sit here!”, Matt was more than prepared for my appearance. He had taken all the books off of his desk and made room for me to sit there. His desk instead of the floor. I really would not have minded the floor, but there was no way I was going to tell him that. Besides, his desk did look rather inviting. Maybe it was just this morning, maybe it was those green eyes and that cute smile, or maybe it was the look of disgust on Andrew’s face. Whatever it was, I sat down on the top of his desk.
We talked nonstop throughout the remainder of the period. Nonsensical things mostly but there were a few personal preferences thrown in here or there. Our musical taste, what kind of movies we liked, the names of video games we beat within minutes of purchasing them. We had more than enough in common. Don’t get me wrong, we had our differences, but they really didn’t matter. All that mattered was that we were in sync with one another.
The period ended. When we left, Matt promised to meet me outside Mr. Hawkins’ classroom before lunch started. He said there was something he wanted to show me. He gave me a hug and we parted ways. For now.

Choir class and my second biology session for the day went by faster than normal. Not due to my anticipation but due to the fact that we were on a fourth and fifth period exam schedule. Holidays were always adored because they got us out of school for a while, but they were also dreaded for their hidden meaning, exams. I would have minded if I had not been promised a showing of something special at lunch by a certain someone.
He kept to his word and met me outside of Mr. Hawkins’ mobile. Right as I prepared to ask him what it was he planned on showing me, he mumbled, “Follow me and everything is alright.” He took of walking, so, I did as he said. Followed. He led me past the cafeteria, around the main building, and into the gym. We went up a couple flights of stairs and took a left.
“Here we are.” I sure was glad he knew where we were, because I had absolutely no clue. I saw the choir classroom, the band room, and another flight of stairs leading up to a door. A door that looked very unfamiliar and foreign to my eyes, but he stared at it as if it were the entrance to a second home. A hidden wonder.
“Correction, one last leap and then we’re there. Are you ready to enter the castle, milady?” He held out his hand, putting all hope into me taking it. I did. Before I knew it, the door to his so called ‘castle’ had opened and we were inside a very old, very dark room.
This room was filled with rows of sheet music, a couple chairs, and a blanket that looked out of place. It was the only thing that wasn’t covered in dust. I knew where we were now.
He turned on the lights and closed the door. Rearranged a few things here and there to make this room, the school’s old projection room, into some sort of lounge. He shoved the blanket up against a high stacked shelf of music and sat down. I wasn’t about to sit down in one of those old, crocked, rusty chairs. I just knew they were bound to break when my big butt hit their springs wrong. I decided to sit down next to him on the blanket. It was the most comfortable of the choices. Plus, I was right next to the person I wanted to be with at that moment.
Being as intuitive as he was, he got that without a word spoken. It seemed his thoughts and feelings were completely in sync with mine. I wanted to be with him now, and I knew that he wanted to be with me. It was all so clear. So simple.
He reached his arm around me and grabbed my hand to hold it. Yes. It was all falling into place.
We sat there for a half hour and spoke about our pasts. Not in full detail, but the skeletal outlines at least. I loved hearing about the places he lived, his pets, his brothers, and even his past relationships. It was all so intriguing, I just couldn’t get enough. Regardless to say, he felt the same. He treated every word I spoke as if it were some priceless treasure. Everything from my breakup with Andrew, to the fact that I used to own parakeets. Every bit of it, amazing. I never expected it to get any better, I would be suffice with our conversation.
A long pause came about as I realized exactly where our hands were. I knew he grabbed my hand to hold it, I just hadn’t really paid attention to what that meant. What this was starting. It was our beginning. Our fingers interlocked and so did our hearts. We both felt it. That ‘click’. That vital second when you realize that this person, the one you’re sitting next to or maybe even holding hands with, is the person. The one you were supposed to be with from the start of it all. The one who is about to flip your word utterly out of whack and you couldn’t be more thrilled.
