Wow. Guess Gaia decided to strike a positive thread with me this time around.

In any case, I'm splitting my time between Gaia, Shot Online golf, Animal Crossing, and a few minor games.

Hmm. Dunno if I'll be staying long this time, but I might as well dust off the journal.

Too many things going on to spend multiple hours a day obsessing over this site again... but at least now if I decide to spend some time here, I'm up to date.

Dumped off 99 percent of my old items to friends. Still dumping. If I ever go reactive on the site, I'm restarting with next to nothing.

On day one, I managed to figure out how the system worked and teamed up with a small group of people to score well.

When I got on during day 2 after getting sleep and breakfast, I found that folks were using the ignore function to lock folks out of posting on their topics. I spent a while reporting the practice to the mods... and kept trying to find threads I could post in and try to catch up on. I was constantly being banned for being one short, or posting and getting nothing because of folks coming into the thread with less than the target number.

I ended up stealing points here and there, scoring by posting when there was nobody at my point level and getting lucky, and occasionally finding threads that were the right level.

I finally ended up finding the group from day 1 and other groups that went overboard with their ignore lists in my book, and rode them higher. I lucked out at one point and found someone I had talked with before that was well in front of my score, and was allowed to hop in.

Today, though, was just plain sorry. I found someone familiar who was running a tight list and scoring with one of the leaders. I ended up joining, scoring, and inviting some of the folks from the previous days back. However, as it went on, it became obvious how the scoring system worked; a small group of less than 10 people with similar scores would start racking up points if they stuck together. Folks were starting to be cast out like nuts. Meanwhile, I owed the people who let me stay my services to help them continue.

If I had the event to do over... I wouldn't have participated from the start. It was mostly spam, extremely rude, probably not at all what the creators of Gaia had planned. I'm hoping that the trick-or-treating is a lot calmer and doesn't have any sort of function that can make others upset.

I hope there's no award for scoring in the top ten, let alone tied for first. It would be fitting to have done all of that for nothing but a score. Remind me to just say no if Gaia ever has a similar event in the future.
