F.E.A.R. 2 Project Origin Review
User Image

F.E.A.R. 2 starts out waking up in a ruined city seeing a girl with a red dress turn and walk away following her into a pit of yellow brightness. When playing this i felt like this was going to be better than its older brother "F.E.A.R". I became a F.E.A.R fanboy when i almost craped myself when you walked through nothing but the darkend hallways of Armachan Corp. and an enemy jump out of one of the cubical with a shotty. I was expecting the same with the new installment.....but i was WRONG!!!

After the first scary thing it began to feel nothing like its older brother. All that happend was battle after battle and that concept is good for games but this game is supposed to be balanced horror and FPS ((First Person Shooter)). After playing the demo before it came out it consisted of a BALANCED gamplay between both of the genres. The new interface yet cool but not as effective as the interface in the first F.E.A.R . Another problem was the way it became more casual like everything and I do mean EVERYTHING is lit up for you. Weapons, enemys, seceret items, and intel are lit with not only an outline but next to items there is a bright blue light. And enemys for some reason look like they ate a whole bunch of glow sticks.

And the "fear" parts like Alma jumping out at you and grabing you causing you to mash the "B" button like a mad man feels not as scary as it sounds. Alma has symptoms when she is around you like your HUD ((Heads Up Display)) will flicker and thats really about it ((there are other symptoms but umm...you cant really notice the others ^^; wink ). Its like you are expecting to see somthing different every time but ummm....all Alma does is grab you...thats it...and there are the ghost things that attack you but they hardly hurt you anyways so just run through them stare . But, you can't really put the full blame on Monolith for making this game suck. It was mainly in part due to the legal dispute between Sierra and Monolith. Sierra got the rights to the name while Monolith got the rights to the sequel. Is it just me, or does that sound messed up? Spilitting a game up like that... I call shenanigans.

This game also has multiplayer in it . Not really anything to be excited about there are modes like deathmatch, capture the flag, king of the hill, and own Call of Duty's Search and Destroy. You can customize your loadout but thats mainly it nothing really there to save this game from oblivion.

FEAR 2: Project Origin rating:
2.5 out of 5 -Rent it
