So, let me give you a little background on my job: I work at McDonald's for my state's minimum wage. Lately McDonald's has been trying to improve it's rep as an employer, with the whole hiring day thing, and stating on their applications they offer competitive pay. I've been promoted to management for a few months but was still paid my state's minimum wage. They didn't start teaching me manager stuff until after about 3 months of my promotion. Then they wanted me to do workbooks in my spare time (which is illegal because anything work related and training must be compensated for hourly employees) and i felt i wasn't getting paid enough so i didn't do them much, and eventually stepped down from my position. Now with that out of the way. This week, starting today, they thought it would be cute to schedule me for 5am today and tomorrow. Every time they try to get me to go in any earlier than 7 i usually wind up really really really really late. And when i'm scheduled for anything between 7 and 9, i'll usually be like 15 minutes or so late. With all that going on it appears they don't get that i don't do mornings very well. So I go in and find out I'm doing maintenance today and tomorrow. I don't know anything about maintenance and there's no one there to show me. So how the hell they expected that to go over smoothly is beyond me. Anyway, the first task they give me is to do a lot check until they can think of what to do. While doing a lot check it dawns on me, the maintenance man gets paid more and it was then that i decided that if i'm not getting paid a maintenance wage so I'm not doing maintenance work. Once i told the manager on duty that, she made a phone call and I got sent home. lol FML (that's twice they wanted me to do a job i wasn't being properly paid for). I may be Hispanic, but that doesn't mean I feel like slaving away for minimum wage. I'm an American damn it! Not some tanned party animal with a mustache who hopped a fence to feed his fifty bazillion little abominations and demand to be paid like an American!
