Preface * * Man * * Once when the world was still young many beasts roamed the Earth. There were trolls, giants, ogres, and even the occasional dragon, but the most ferocious and most feared was the wolf. Though it was no mythical beast, it had the largest reputation of killing all that happened to cross its path. At one point in history, wolves had it so that almost every species known to Earth dwindled very close to extinction. Then the King of Alainigala decided to take action. He took his strongest, bravest, and most loyal hunter and gave him a very special task. He was to go and rid the world of all wolves. He was to show absolutely no mercy or compassion: he was to slaughter them all. The hunter got together a large group of men and headed out into the unknown wilderness surrounding the castle. At first, his task seemed impossible. Within the first moon, all of his men had gone to swim in the great lake of the sky, plus most of the food and his supplies was either gone, close to being gone, or in great need of repair. Everyone has a breaking point. This brave young man was close to being beyond his own breaking point, but he continued to keep his chin up and continue on his quest. He knew that if he did not finish what he had started the wolves would come back with a greater number, strength, and with a hatred of mankind. He also knew however, that his task was almost complete. Then the day came when just one wolf was left.
