I finished Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions.
Since then, I have said the words "WHAT THE HELL" approximately 278 times.
The entire time I've had the game, I haven't read the last few pages of the story walkthrough I have because I didn't want to spoil myself. I did glance at it to see if there were any particular tactics I should use, but honestly I was pretty well-leveled and I had Balthier the Barrage MACHINE (my god, he is GODLY) and I was good. I was pretty psyched to see the "Airship Graveyard" but then disappointed that no one talked about it.
And then the PLOT happened, and I proceeded to start saying WHAT THE HELL. I really just need to make a list:
- I knew there was something about Alma, but, uh, WHAT THEY REVIVED SAINT AJORA? DID NOT EXPECT THAT.
- ... Ultima was actually... really easy to beat. I think the bonus boss in the Return to Lionel Castle subquest was harder, for srs. (Still beat the crap outta all of 'em.)
- GENERAL WHAT THE HELL AT THE AIRSHIP BLOWING UP.
- ANOTHER WHAT THE HELL AT THE FUNERAL.
- ... WHAT THE HELL, ORRAN. So here you are, giving a general recap, and WHAT THE HELL, DELITA AND OVELIA ARE MARRIED, WHERE IS MY CLOSURE. WHAT THE HELL?! AND WHY IS THAT GIRL THERE I THOUGHT SHE WAS DEAD WHAT DO YOU MEAN ONE OF THE STABBITYS FAILED.
- OWAIT, THEY ARE OBVIOUSLY NOT DEAD BUT OFF IN THE WILD BLUE YONDER.
- OH WHAT THE HELL ORRAN, YOU GOT YOURSELF KILLED BY THE CHURCH. NICE GOING MAN~~~ ... Poor guy. IDIOT, but poor guy.
- WAIT WHAT THE CREDITS ARE ROLLING WHERE THE ******** IS DELITA?!
- OKAY SO I SAT THROUGH ALL THE CREDITS--- OMG IT'S THE CASTLE
- ...
- ...
- ................................................................WHAT.
WHAT. THE. HELL.
WHAT THE HELL WHAT THE HELL WHAT THE HELL.
WHAT. THE. HELL.
I... pretty much just said "what the hell" for a good five minutes after watching the ending. I mean... what the ******** hell. Alex, your "long live the king" phrase means so much more now. I mean... OH MY GOD, WHAT THE HELL, DELITA. I STILL LOVE THE ******** OUT OF YOU, BUT WHAT THE HELL.
...
... I still think it needs some more closure. Ovelia's outburst was kind of random and there was no sense of time other than "oh lol they're king and queen. OH WAIT SHE'S DEAD."
...um. Well. I think it is god damn official that Final Fantasy Tactics is my third-favorite game of all time, ousting Tales of Phantasia to fourth place (a significant move, I love ToP like whoa). One and two are still FFVII and FFVI, respectively, because they are both amazing and I love them.
... but I'm still saying "what the hell."
And that concludes my rant. Thing.
