Time Wasted
Imagine this you sit in a damp dark room, hands tied behind your back, and a blindfold over your eyes. You can smell the stench of cigarette smoke in the air. In the distance you can hear two gruff voices debating. You strain to block out the surrounding sounds trying to hear what they are saying, but to no avail. The deafening sounds of hammers, and steel cutting machines drown every other sound out. All of a sudden a door slams open, " Well guess the boss has no more need for you now." Those are the last words you hear before Bang! A gunshot rings out, and in that brief moment before impact your life flashes before your eyes.
Now I've set this scene up just for that last sentence, I want to make you actually think. I know my writings are usually poems and what not, but I've decided to let you think this time. In those seconds your life flashes before your eyes what do you see? Do you see a life of glory and honor? One that would make any person proud to have lived. Or do you see a life filled with disappointments and let downs? Unfulfilled dreams and broken relationships.
Do you see a happy family like the one you always pictured you would have? Or do you see children embarrassed to claim you as their father/mother? Finally are your final thoughts even happy, or just seeds of greed and deception? Will you wander if that deal went down how it was supposed to, or weather your boys turned on you in the end?
These are things we often don't think about while we are alive saying they don't matter and when the time comes you will deal with it. People with that mindset have set themselves up for the inevitable life of let downs and broken relationships. The things we do now shape what happens in our future, weather we choose the life of honor and accomplishment, or the life of greed and deceit is up to you.
I put this last thought to you when you die will you be mourned by many or few. Regardless the amount will they mourn you for you great accomplishments and the friends you made. Or for the deeds you've done and the pain you've inflicted.
