A Feeling Of Hope
I hope you all like it!

-----
Not too far from the little, Elven village, Nar, lies a great forest known to Elves and Humans alike. It is also the last forest that lies in the region of Tare. It’s beautiful, and tall trees can be seen almost anywhere and sometimes they seem to reach up into the heavens. Emerald green moss is almost everywhere you step and red-violet ferns cover the grounds around the trails. Clean mist fills the warm air of the quiet and peaceful forest.
Deep into the woods, a young and beautiful woman was laying on a fresh green tree. Her long, sandy brown hair was braided and laid over her right shoulder. Her eyes were closed and her lips were curled into a smile. Her breath was quick and her heart was beating rapidly. She had been fighting almost all morning and now she was laying down for a short break to catch her breath.
After a few minutes of rest, Kristin’s radiant, heather-purple eyes slowly opened. Her smile disappeared into a large yawn and she stretched her arms and legs. She sat herself up straight and glanced at the area around her, checking to make sure that nothing was watching her. As she stood up, she stretched her arms up in the air once more and grabbed her two swords, which laid against the same tree she rested on.
“So today is the day,” Kristin said softly as she looked up at the afternoon sky, “Today is the day we head out into war.” Kristin paused and looked down at the ground below her. Her grip on the swords tightened. “I will revenge your death, father. No demon will be left alive after I am finished with them.” With that, Kristin headed back towards her home in the village of Nar.

After about an hours walk, Kristin arrived in the village she called home. It had been her home ever since she could remember and it would be the only place she would call home. Her life was based around Nar and the Elves who live there. Even though she had human blood in her, the Elven people accepted her and made her feel at home. Nothing could possibly ever take her away from Nar.
“So how was your morning practice,” a voice called out to Kristin as she passed the gates of Nar. “You're really serious about your father’s death, aren’t you?”
Kristin turned towards the sound of the voice and a warm smile came to her face when she saw who it was. It was one of her close friends, Raven. Raven’s long black hair hung down loose and her long pointed ears poked out from her hair. Her glossy grey eyes stared into Kristin’s. A warm, friendly smile was also visible on her face.
“Good Afternoon, Raven,” Kristin said warmly, “And of course I am serious. Why wouldn’t I be?” Raven shrugged her shoulders and smiled. She walked up to Kristin and placed a hand on her shoulder. “Aiden, Lyari, and I have decided to go with you, just to watch your back. Plus, we can’t just let a close friend like you go out into war alone. What friends would do that?”
“I can’t possibly let you three do that.“ Kristin’s mood turned serious as she shook her head. “I could never be able to live if you three died to help me out with a problem of mine.”
“Kristin, Love. This war isn’t just your problem, it is a problem us Elves and the humans have to deal with. That's why we're going to go with you, if you like it or not.”
Kristin wasn’t one to argue with her friend, anyways, if she did try to argue with Raven, Raven would win since she had Lyari and Aiden on her side. She let out a sigh.
“If that is what you three want to do,” she said softly. “Then, I guess there's no use in arguing with you not to go.”
“That’s the spirit,” Raven said and laughed. “Aiden and Lyari are waiting at your house, we are all packed up and ready to go.”
“Really? Then lets hurry up. I have to get myself packed the rest of the way and also I have to say my good-byes to Barido. He's the one who's helped me to get this far.”
Raven nodded her head and she lead Kristin to her house, both of them chatting and laughing on their way there.

When Kristin and Raven finally reached Kristin’s home, Aiden and Lyari were outside of her door, waiting impatiently. They were seen leaning against the side of the wall holding hands.
The two were a cute couple. Aiden had long, black hair that reached just below his shoulders and his eyes were emotionless, unless he was staring into Lyari’s ultra violet eyes. Aiden was dressed in a black cloak and carried a two-handed broad sword and a b*****d sword.
Lyari was almost opposite of Aiden. She had long, golden blonde hair, which reached almost to her waist and she had beautiful violet eyes that seem to glow in the dark because the color is so bright. Her eyes were always full of emotions. She was dressed in a navy blue kimono that had blush pink apple blossoms designs and a blood red ribbon tied around her waist. Just like Aiden, she carried a broadsword at her waist.
A smile came to Kristin’s face when she saw her other two friend’s waiting at her house. She lifted her right hand up into the air and waved to them. “Hey you two,” she yelled out. “Sorry it took me so long. I was getting warmed up before we head out.”
“It's good to see you, Kristin,” Lyari yelled out back towards her as she waved back. “We thought you would have been a little later.”
When Kristin finally got up to her house, she gave both Lyari and Aiden a friendly hug.
“You could of hurried up, you know,” Aiden said giving Kristin crap for being at her house sooner. “I have grown impatient as we waited. Hurry up and get your stuff and lets go.”
Kristin crossed her arms and walked into her home to pack up lightly for the war. Raven punched Aiden’s shoulder from his comment of Kristin’s lateness.
“Stop giving her crap,” Raven said teasingly. “She had been out practicing, she didn’t know we were coming.”
Aiden didn’t say anything back to Raven at her comment, he was too busy thinking about the war. He had walked out of Nar, and visited his sister, Wren Naecea. Wren didn’t live in Nar because she was cursed and exiled from the Elven ways and Elven life, making her a Drow. Though, her brother isn’t really suppose to have any contact with her, but he left the night before, to ask her a favor. He was hoping she would do the favor he asked her.
Kristin finally came out of her home with a small travel bag with medical need and other little things she was going to need for the war. She looked at her friends and smiled warmly. “So, my friends,” she said softly. “Lets head out!”
Everyone nodded, agreeing with Kristin, and headed out to the center of Nar, where the rest of the Elven warriors would be meeting before they headed out to war.

When the girls and Aiden finally reached the center of their village, there was already a huge group of Elven warriors, all ready and excited to go. There were some groups, praying to the Elven Gods to come back home alive. There were groups who where singing war songs and drinking sake at the same time. Then there were groups who just talked about the days ahead.
Kristin walked her way through the groups and headed to the main gates. She left Raven, Lyari, and Aiden behind, knowing that it would be easier for her to go alone. She also was the one to volunteer because she knew that Barido would be there talking to the Elven Prince. Both who she had to speak to.
A smile reached her face when she reached the main gates and saw both Barido and the Prince. Barido was dress in a light grey cloak, like any mage would be dressed in. The hood was pulled over his head to hide his almost bald head, and also most of the wrinkles that showed his old age. His eyes were a sea blue color and it almost seemed to have a grey tint to them. The Prince on the other hand, was dress in what any royal Elven Prince would be dressed in. His golden crown shimmered in the afternoon sun, along with his silver chain mail. Under the mail he wore a maroon and golden royal cloak, that had many different patterns and symbols that Kristin couldn't understand. His eyes were of a baby blue color, much like a wolf’s eyes. His long, blonde hair was braided into a pony tail and thrown over his right shoulder. She slowly walked up to the both of them, and bowed.
“Ah, my dear Kristin,” Barido said with warmth in his voice. “I see you have made it.” He walked up to Kristin, when she had lifted her head from the bow, and hugged her gently. Barido had been like a father to her after her's had died. Also, she was his apprentice for about three years and he taught her about everything she needed to know.
Barido turned to the Elven Prince and smiled. “Prince Saeran, this is someone you can trust with your life,” he said softly. “Trust me, I have trained her myself. She is truly noble, kind hearted, and honest.”
Saeran looked over at Kristin and nodded. “I know, Barido my friend,” he said kindly as he stared at Kristin. “I have heard much about you Kristin. I am glad to finally meet you and sorry I couldn’t meet with you sooner. I have been busy for the past couple of months.”
Kristin bowed once more when the Saeran spoke to her. “It is a pleasure to meet you My Lord,” she said loyally and warmly. “I understand you have been busy, you don’t have to be sorry.” She paused for a moment and continued on. “I am here to know what my friends’ and my duties are to be during the war.”
“I would like it if you and your friends would join me up in the lead. I will tell you the details while we head out, but there are a few things I want to tell you right now. As we speak, the humans are arriving on the other side of these gates. When we head out, I am going to be talking to the War General who leads the humans. I want you to be there with me. After all that I have heard, and all that Barido has told me. You are a great warrior and I want you to be second in command. Is that all right with you?”
Kristin’s jaw almost dropped when she heard that Saeran wanted her to be second in command. She was almost speechless. “It would be an honor,” she said as she bowed politely. “I would be greatly honored in serving you as second command. I promise not to fail you.”
“I am glad to hear that you have accepted it. Now hurry up and get your friends, we are heading out soon.”
Kristin nodded and looked at Barido. “Thank you Barido,” she said with a smile as she hugged him once more. “Take care of yourself old man. If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here. Stay safe and may the Gods be with you!”
“And with you as well, my dear Kristin.”
Kristin let Barido go from the hug, turned around and headed back to her friends. Barido turned towards Saeran, his face had a serious look on it.
“Take care and come home safely,” Barido said. “Keep Kristin safe for me, please. She is like a daughter to me.”
Saeran nodded to show that he understood. Barido nodded back and then disappeared.

It wasn’t long until Kristin got to her friends. A smile was on her face and she looked at each one before she said a word. “The Prince wants us to join him in the front lines as we travel.” she said softly. “So let hurry up and get our horses and lets get going. We will be leaving very soon.”
Lyari, Raven, and Aiden, nodded their heads and followed Kristin to get their horses from the stables that they were being kept at. Kristin rode a pure white stallion, named Winter’s Blade, that has been hers ever since he was just a foal. Raven rode a black stallion, named Yang, with white knee socks and a white diamond on the face of the horse. Lyari’s horse was almost like Raven’s horse but the colors where swapped and Lyari‘s horse was a mare, named Yin. Her horse was white and had the black socks and a black diamond. Aiden rode a pure black stallion, named Lunar Falcon, that had the worst attitude ever when it came to anyone other than Aiden.

The group finally arrived next to Prince Saeran at the front gates. He gave Kristin a warm smile and looked at her friends and bowed his head. The girls and Aiden bowed their heads back at Saeran. Saeran then turned his horse around and raised a hand to hush the warriors down. As he did this, everything got quiet.
“My good people of Nar,” he said with honor and pride. “I am glad to see this many great warriors all ready to fight against the damned demons. It really shows that you have honor, pride, and bravery in you. I have to say thank you. Thank you for being brave and finally coming to put an end to these beasts as they slowly destroy the world.” He paused and smiled. “Even as we talk, the humans are getting ready to join us, just outside of these gates. So lets go out and show that nothing can stop us at what we fight for. Now lets kicks some demon butts!”
With that, Saeran turned his horse and gave a weird hand signal to open the gates in front of him. Slowly the doors started to open, and the fields outside of the kingdom, that were filled with human warriors, came into view. Saeran gave the signal to Kristin and then headed out through the opened gates. Kristin turned to her friends.
“Stay here,” she said to them. “I'll be right back.” She nudged her horse on the sides and followed behind Saeran. She looked out at the many men that waited outside, was awed by how many there were. It seemed more than how many Elven warriors were out there. She looked ahead of herself and saw two warriors not too far from Saeran and herself. They seemed to be waiting for them.
“Aw, nice to see you Prince Saeran.” The middle man said softly, bowing his head. He looked over at Kristin slightly confused. “You're bringing a woman into war?”
Kristin was a little upset at the man’s last remark, but kept herself from saying a word that might made her look bad. The man was dressed in a white-collared button up shirt. Over that he had on a black long sleeve shirt, with red stripes and two red buckles. He had on black and leather pants. On the belt that was about his waist, a large sword was sheathed. His sandy eyes were narrow and soft, and his matching, sandy hair, hung below his ears. His eyes moved toward Saeran, waiting for his reply.
“It is good to see you as well, Kuin,” Saeran said bowing back. “And yes, I am bring a woman to war. This is Kristin Hitomi and she is better than most of my men put together. Don‘t underestimate her just because she's a woman. There are many Elven women who are warriors as strong as Elven men.”
Kuin looked at Kristin and bowed his head. “Please forgive me if I insulted you,” he said softly.
“Not at all, General,” Kristin said, bowing respectfully. “I have run into many who have thought it was crazy for a woman like me to join the war, but I promise I will not let you down.”
“I am glad to hear that,” Kuin said with a smile. He looked to his friends. “I almost forgot, these two are the ones who are second in charge, and friends. To the right of me is Skry--” He pointed to the young man who was on the right of him. “--and this is Kyte.” He pointed to the young man to the left of him.
The young man on the right of Kuin, Skry, seemed to be a rogue, or at least that is what Kristin thought. He had narrow, blood red eyes and long black hair that seemed to cover them. He had long, skinny arms, and from his elbows to his hands were covered in fabric. He was dressed in an all black, short sleeve shirt and black pants. Many red marks were seen on his face and bare arms. He had two daggers sheathed on his sides.
The young man on the left of Kuin, Kyte, seemed to be a regular warrior, though Kristin had no clue how great he was. Kyte was dressed in a blue, short sleeve, turtleneck shirt with matching gloves, that had holes so the fingers were bare and two buckles to adjust the tightness of the gloves. He wore light tan pants and a brown belt around his waist. He also had a silver chest plate on. Kyte’s eyes were light blue and they showed innocence and bravery in them at the same time. His belt held his sheathed sword that was long and slender.
“It is a pleasure to meet you three,” Kristin said softly, her eyes on Kyte’s and his eyes where on her. She smiled and looked at Saeran. “So, Prince Saeran, what are we going to do?”
“Ah, Yes,” Saeran said looking at the three men in front of him. “There is much to discus and much to plan. I know that the Demon Lord, Damien, plans to attack a village not far from here, called Ails. I think we should head there and wait for them. Then we can surprise them. Ails is only a days walk from here so I think that is a great first start.”
“That sounds like a great starting plan,“ Kuin said nodding his head slowly. “Then I think that is where we should start then. What do the rest of you say?”
Kristin, Skry, and Kyte all agreed, nodding their heads. Kristin’s eyes moved back towards Kyte, and to her surprise, he looked at her. Kristin smiled again at him and he smiled back.
“So, I will get the Elven army ready and meet you three up at the front lines.” Saeran said and turned his horse.
Kristin nodded her head at Kyte, Kuin, and Skry. “I'll see you three later.” Kristin said and turned her horse around, following behind Saeran.
“Do you think it's a good idea to let a woman join us, Kuin,” Skry asked coldly as Kristin and Saeran where far enough out of hearing distance.
“Aw Skry,” Kyte said in a warm, jokingly voice. “Don’t be so judgmental. She seems to be a wonderful warrior. Have faith.”
“I see you have fallen head over heals for another girl,” Skry replied to Kyte. “You always fall for women easily.”
“Can you two stop,” Kuin said, his eyes fixed on Saeran and Kristin. “We are at war, act like it. And yes, Skry, I do think it is a good idea. When Prince Saeran says that she's a great warrior, then he means it. And Kyte, you might not want to show any signs of affections for Kristin. It can be the thing that will bring you down and who knows if the Prince has feelings for her. He seemed very fond of her.”
Kyte nodded agreeing with Kuin. He's right, Kyte thought to himself. The Prince did seem a little to fond of Kristin. He sighed. “I wasn’t falling head over heels, Kuin,” Kyte said softly. “Because like you said, falling in love with someone during war, can be the death of me and dying right now isn’t an option.”
“Lets go and get the men ready,” Kuin said, turning his horse and headed to where his men camped.
