Lover's Prayer



Laying here knowing I’ve steered you wrong,
Thinking of you and why I’ve cared so long.
Never leave me, never leave my side.
Not another you I’ve searched this world wide.
Love me now take me in your embrace,
Wipe the gentle tears from this broken face.
Tell me you love me; say all this is true,
I’ve wanted the world but now all I need is you.
Love me forever don’t push me away.
Now I kneel by my bed and I pray.
Dear Lord God, please tell him my regrets,
Tell him my fears my trouble and my frets.
Please let him forgive my trials and errors,
Tell him hopes, dreams and my treasures.
Bless his days and every breath he takes,
For each of my breath my body shakes.
Full of my dread, doubt and ambition,
Let him know that I will succeed this mission.
I seek forgiveness, searching though days grow dark,
Show him my pain nesting upon my breaking heart.
I shall never stop till end ‘tis here.
Before then let my heart rejoice and cheer,
For he I’ll always love please let it be known,
And for all this love I wished to be shown.
Please God, grant him love, peace, and trust.
I’ll do anything that I should and must,
To be sure that he will always love me,
And let my restless heart to be free.
Now dear Lord God he is in your hands,
To achieve his destiny, hopes and plans.
Please let me lay in bed tonight,
To sleep silent and well without a fright,
For when morning comes there’s a heart to mend.
Dear Lord God, Your precious name, Amen.
