I'm talking. Listen to me.
ONE ACT WENT AWESOME!
So Friday and Saturday, One Acts from our area of Maine have been going to Skowhegan to compete with each other and see who would go to states with their One Act.

Nokomis (which is us) had a One Act called And Then I Woke Up, which is a One Act we all wrote ourselves using our dreams and improv.

I won't tell you about ALL of the other schools, but Central, Nokomis's new best friend, had an act about some drama kids getting ready to try out for the next play, and it how each of them pictured the group of directors. It was called Stand Centre Stage and Bark, because one of the things they had to do while they were in there was bark like a dog. We from Nokomis laughed the HARDEST during their play. And we laughed even harder when we heard our director from 3 or 4 rows away laughing.
There were some AWESOME people in that group, like these twins that had "Free Hugs" shirts on. I have them on my MySpace now. :3 And on AIM. They're pretty awesome.

Then there was Skowhegan, who did an act about Pinocchio. It was REALLY good, even though some of the other actors from Nokomis didn't seem to think so. The girl who played Pinocchio was Asian, and she did a really amazing job with the movements and the voice. Well, they all did a great job with their voices. We met some of the people from their group too, though not as many as from Central.

So, we were the first to perform. It was rather scary going through transitions, because when we did it on our stage, it was semi-lit so we could see what was going on. But at Skowhegan, it was completely dark and we couldn't see anything at all, and we all had a few near-death experiences. But overall, we did a great job. Central LOVED our act.
The judges didn't seem to like it so much. It's not that they hated it, but they were so picky. Like with our set, we used 3 black boxes which we covered with cloth because last year we painted them black and the judges complained they were chipping. This year they complained they could tell it was fabric. I wish they would stay constant. They're never very pleased. They also complained about our use of full costumes and partial costumes.

The time in between performances, we went running around the school hanging out with people. At one point Taylor was taking a documentary of Will (who plays a tourist that morphs into a beast when it hears a cell phone ringing in our act) and we were in our room, and we heard someone playing guitar, so Will acted like the beast-tourist and ran out to find the guitar player, which was one of the Free Hugs guys from Central. So then we all crowded in their room until Taylor and Will continued the documentary. It was so funny, we had a freaking blast.

We performed on Friday, and after us 2 other schools performed. Then we all went home and washed up and got ready for the next day.

Before we saw any performances we hung out some more, it was a bit more fun because we weren't so nervous about our performance. At some point we had a mini-concert where a few of the guys from Skowhegan played their guitars and sang some rock songs. It was really cool.

So then we saw Central and Skowhegan perform, as well as 3 other schools (that means 8 schools in all performed. There were 2 classes, class A and class B. After seeing Central's, we hoped we weren't in the same class as them, and we weren't). After all the performances were done, we did some "group" thing with the other schools. It was kinda fun, and I had a couple of hot guys in my group.

So then they presented us with awards. Taylor, Derek, and Will all got their own individual awards, and Nokomis got an award for outstanding ensemble work or something like that. But in our class, we didn't place. A different school got runner-up, and Skowhegan got first place.
BUT
Central got first place in their class.
Nokomis was SO happy for them. Afterwards, we all ran down and hugged them. Their's was really great. They totally deserved it. =3

So, even though we didn't place, we still came back with an awesome feeling about how much fun we had. It was two of the best days of my entire life. It was a really great bonding experience too. And I got a lot of hugs. X3
