When you were going to that party

But I didn't, and you drove off

Before you left and got drunk at that party

and you would be sober all night
But I didn't, and you drank

Before you left and got in your drunk friend's car
I could have said something,
and you would have walked
But I didn't, and you got in

Before you left and your friend drove away from the police

and you would have bailed
But I didn't, and your friend crashed

When you were in the hospital
I could have prayed,
and God might have saved you
But I didn't, and he took you

I'm sorry I never said anything

I'm sorry that you could still be here,
but you died on Christmas morn
