......... ... ......... .
Dec. 23, 2006
Made an animated holiday card to send out to my Gaia friends and a still image to use as a siggy. Feel free to use them (the animated one is not compliant with Gaia's limits on siggy file sizes, the other one is). Feel free to leave comments as well, and rate my seasonal outfits (above).
I love this time of year, because no matter what they celebrate or why, -most- of the world turns their attention to charity and peace ... or at the very least takes a moment of reflection on the last day of the year to hope for something better. That's what it's all about for me. The possibility of something better. A world where everyone is treated equally regardless of their gender, race, sexual orientation, or whatever else. We have so many more important things to battle on this planet, from hunger, to disease, to environmental stability. I always hoped we'd arrive at the 21st century with a more enlightened view of things, but six years into it, and it's almost like we've taken several steps backwards. So this year, on the last day of December, during that magic moment at midnight when we all hold our collective breaths for one split second and become aware of the passage of time and the untapped potential of the future, remember this: Each one of us is responsible for what we do or don't do, and at the same time, are affected by everyone else's actions. We can continue to wallow in the darkness of hatred, bigotry, ignorance and injustice, or we can take a stand to do what's right and sparkle like the brightest star in the heavens. The world is what we make it. What are you going to do to make it better?
