I often forget that my little sister is only 9 years old. I forget that she doesn't know as much as I do, that she doesn't know what experiences I have been though and because of this, I often forget that she is living a child's life.

When it comes down to it, children tend to be short sighted. They don't pay attention to the little things. What they want is what they want and if it doesn't go their way, they sulk.

For example, today she put up a stink about how every Monday we never stay home. In a way it's true, we barely ever stay home on a Monday but there is a reason for that. We live above a restuarant, and my parents own and are also the head chiefs for it. They work 8am-10pm everyday except Mondays. Why? It's because that is there only day off a week. In this business, we can't even take a normal vacation like an average family. The longest amount of time that we can not be at the restuarant is a grand total of 3 days before we get complaints from customers, we even lose customers that way. So Monday is the only day my parents get off a week, the only day that we can go out and actually seem like a family. Sure they are nearby since the restuarant is just downstairs but they are busy working people. We may get to see our parents more then some people would, but we aren't really like a family, Monday is the only time that we get a chance to be like one. Even when my parents are off work, we seem to drift into our own little worlds.

It's painful to see her not understand that though there are times that I wish my sight were as short as hers, so I wouldn't feel hurt.
