The moon lit to its brightest form and the blows raging in my opponent's sword finally weakend... I quickly slashed him with my katana in the center of his chest but he just kept on whirling his blade like some kind of berserker. I drew my ace in the hole, a hidden kunai every royal guard would have. My opponent was devastated to see my knife just inches from his neck. (SLASH!!) My kunai was deflected to his arm by another swordsman. "Two againts one Is't fair now is it?"I complained. "Are you going to complain, or are you going to face it like a (SHLCK!!) ma--" The unknown man stopped. It was Daijo, our arrow specialist, he shot the man right in hig rib cage and instantly knocked him out. "What are you doing here?" I asked. "I thought you'd need some help fighting these hired goons, Zaruru?" Daijo said. "Pff! I don't need any help!" I said. "The village is starting to get dark, let's head back to the palace!" Daijo commanded while blocking the enemy with a single kunai. Thats Daijo for you, smart and bossy. "Let me finish this one off!" Daijo asked. "Fine, I'll head back! Good luck!" I said heading to the palace. "Luck is for losers." Daijo whispered to himself. "Huh!?"
Chapter one: Zaruru's fault!
"Zaruru! It's urgent!" Dotaitos shouted, he's our back-up crew leader and my younger brother. "What is it?" I asked. "It's Daijo-kun! He's no where to be found!" Dotaitos said. "What!? He should be fine againts that swordsman!" I thought. "Give me the full report now!!" I shouted. "Yes sir! He was missing on around five o'clock this morning, there were blood stains where we found one of his arrows! That's all the info we have, I'll update you as soon as possible!" Dotaitos announced. "Awww man! This is all my fault!" I said to myself. "Zaruru, the chief wants to talk to you!" A man wearing a blue sash said. (The blue sash means Intermediate) I ran to the main office where most of the palace guards are. Most of them are wearing blue sashes but some, like me, are wearing red sashes. (The red sash indicates that you are part of the royal guard) "Zaruru!" An elderly man spoke, he was wearing the master sash. "As you might know right now, Daijo is no where to be found. I've arranged a team of operatives to help you track him and bring him back. I also put another royal guard in charge, you will both lead the team to Katana Mountain.", "Why there?" I asked. "Because I found their crest symbol in a torn piece of the enemy's clothes you and Daijo fought." A woman dressed in the red sash said. "Zaruru, this is Rena, the other squad leader I was talking about." The master said. "You can call me Fallen Angel!" Rena said. "Isn't Katana Mountain the home of th--" I was interrupted. "That's right! The Katon Clan!" Rena said. "They're a group of renegade ronin that ambush innocents for their possessions, they hide in Katana Mountain because it's the only route to get in and out of the village." Rena explained. "Show off.." I whispered. "Did you say something?" Rena asked. "No! Not one word!" I said trying to avoid a rumble. "I thought so.." Rena said in a threatening way. "Very well! It is settled then,Zaruru and Rena,you will start and travel tomorrow!" The master said."Roger Jira-sama!" Rena announced. "And Zaruru.." Jira-sama said. "If you fail this mission and you don't return Daijo....You will be banished for not helping a comrade in battle..." Jira-sama said. "I will not let you down Jira-sama" I spoke.
Chapter two: Mt. Impossible to get through
"Rena?" I asked. "What?" Rena complied. "Exactly how do you know who the Katon clan was?" I asked. "(sigh) It was just last year.... I was following a renegade ronin in Katana Mountain, I took with me a group of white and blue sash rank foot soldiers. Once we caught up to him he ambushed us with about fifty A class ronin. I was able to escape and return to the village, but the fight took its toll.... I was the only one to survive." . Just then my body froze. "Then we should bring back up!" I souted. "Don't you get it Zaruru?" Rena said. "This is a punishment mission. No one ever went past through Katana Mountain besides the past leaders of the village." , "This is a suicide mission!" I shouted. "It's punishment for losing team members." Rena said in a worried voice this time. "Well then... We can't die now can we?" I tried to cheer Rena up. "Zaruru... You Idiot" Rena whispered. It was time, The sun rose and the mountain casted its deadly shadow.(Gulp) "Rena... If we don't make it.. I just wanted to say... I accidentaly used your flute as a toilet plunger!" I rushed saying it. (SLAP!!!) " I used it this morning you idiot!" Rena shouted. "Oww!" I complained. "Zaruru-sama!" A group of foot soldiers showed up. "Woah! I've never been called sama before! Oh! This must be the team thats about to go with us." I said. "Let's go now before we lose time!" Rena commanded. "You don't have to be so bossy. half of them are mine remember?" I told Rena. "Let's just go already!" Rena , in her bossy state, shouted at me.
Chapter 3: The no-good, dirty rotten, about to ge hurt traitor!
"Sir! Can we please take a break! We've been going in circles! I'm exhausted!" A foot soldier said. "I know where it is! Ummm...There in that scary looking cave!" I pointed. (POW!!) "You idiot! We just came from there!" Rena shouted. "Sir! What the heck is that thing!" A blue sash ronin pointed. "It seems to be some kind of Wolf-like monster heading towards us......" I stopped. " RUN!! I'm too young and good looking to die!!!" I screamed. " Wait! I have an idea!" Rena said while picking up a poor, defenceless, baby bunny. "Take this you stupid wolf thing!" Rena said while throwing the cute bunny. "Rena how could you!" I shouted at her. " Watch out!" I warned the others while I threw a smoke bomb. (BOOM!) "Let's get out of here!" Rena ordered. After running for what seems to be a day Zaruru and Rena set camp. Just when everyone fell asleep, two shadows appeared in front of them. "What should we do with them boss?" A man dressed all in black said. "Kidnap the leaders..." A woman wearing a red ronin outfit said. " What about me? I told you where they were! Where's my gold?!" A ronin wearing a white sash said. "Boss?" The man wearing black asked. " All I said was to kidnap the leaders, take care of the rest Tai." The woman said. " How?" Tai asked. "Use your imagination! All of them are asleep!" The woman shouted softly. "Wha--No! You can't do this (Slice!!) I'm gonna--" The foot soldier in blue said in his last words. "I'm going to like this...." Tai softly said to himself. " Dragon's Claw!!! (SHRED!!!)" Tai executed his attack.
Chapter 4: A lost cause
(SHINK!) "Sorry but It's my dutie for the safety of this team." I announced. "Your such a show-off!" It was Rena. She took aim for the enemy's temple for an instant kill. "Hold him still for me Zaruru!" Rena said while aiming the arrow. (TWING!!) Rena lunched the speeding arrow. (SHLCK!!) "He...He blocked it with his arm.." Rena said surprised. "It was so fast I didn't see it!". "Then I'll--(POW!)" I was hit right in the center of my gut. (GAK!) "Zaruru! I'll sav-- (SHLCK!)" Rena was slashed in her stomach. "Why you....". "This is what happens when you mess with me!" Tai said. "I'll take care of the rest of them later." The night sky was painted pitch black, everything was cloaked by the darkness. So when the time is right, and the moonlight was focused into the right area, the capitol of the Katon Clan would be visible enough to see. "Tai, your late!" The woman in red said. "My apologies Carroto-sama!" Tai apologized. "Your punishment will come later, throw them where we put the other one." Carroto said. "Yes mistress!" Tai said with confidence. Moments later on a dark shadowed cell... "Zaruru....Where are we?...." Rena said in her weakened state. ".......Rena?" I answered. "There isn't much time left, I'll go and find Daij--(GAK!)" I was dripping blood across my mouth. "Zaruru! I'll get some of our medicine...." Rena said in a frail voice. (Sizzle) "AAHH!!! What is this stuff?" I asked Rena. "It's an ancient medicine passed down to me by my grand mother." Rena answered. "There! That should do it-- (Gak!)" Rena was still terribly injured. "How are we going to get out of this mess?" Rena asked me. ".....I don't know..." I answered. "That's not the Zaruru I know!" A soft voice behind the wall said. "I recongnize that voice....Daijo?" I asked. "Yeah....Looks like they got me good Zaruru." Daijo said. ". "Zaruru... they severed my arms...I'm no use for the royal guard now.." Daijo said as if he was about to die. "That sure is a bunch of (sencored)!" Rena said. "Let's bust out of here Daijo!" I tried to put some sence in him. "I'll just slow you down... " Daijo told me. " Don't do this Daijo!" I said to him. "I don't think you get it Daijo, or whatever, but if Zaruru doesn't get you back alive, he's gonna lose everything, including his right as a citizen in our village!" Rena shouted at Daijo as if it was a younger brother. "....I'll come...." Daijo said regretfully. "I'll light a yellow flare so the village knows we have Daijo and they'll come for us!" I said. At midnight the three royal guards got to the exit of the Katon Palace, but waiting for them is an unwanted guest. "Going somewhere?" Tai said. "DRAGON'S CLAW!!!" (SHEDDD!!!) "Oh no! Daijo! (echo)" I screamed.
Chapter 5: Goodbye Daijo
"AAAHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!" Daijo screamed in pain. "Daijo!" Rena screamed as blood rained in every direction. "Looks like your friend went bye-bye!" Tai said smiling. "You'll pay for this (censored)!!" Rena shouted. Rena threw a flurry of punches but Tai justs evades them. "Play time is over!" Tai said. "DRAGON FANG!!! (SLICE!!!) "Rena!!" I shouted. "Dang.... I can't land a single blow...." Rena whispered. "Still alive?" Tai said jokingly to Rena. "Why you!!!!" As I charged to Tai, my sword grew with immence strength, and I know exactly what to do. "IMPERIAL FLARE!!! (SHLCK!!!!!)" . After the massive explosion of the attack I thought no one would survive that blow... But somehow Tai was still standing. "Your out skilled kid! Your best move didn't hurt me one bit!" Tai said in a serious manner. "Oh shoot!" I said. "Here I come! DRAGON FANG!!" Tai launched his attack. (SSHHHLLLCCKK!!!) I could no longer feel my left arm, when I looked, there was a shard of his sword stabbed in my elbow. "I got it! His sword has a limit to how many attacks he could use! If I can stall, then I can win!" I thought. "DRAGON FANG!!" Tai executed another attack. I barely eveded it. "So you wanna play catch?" Tai said to me. "See if you can dodge this!! DRAGON BARRAGE!!!" This attack was different than the others, this was a combination of multiple kicks and sword swings! (POW!, SLICE!, POW!, SLICE!, POW!, SLICE!) " I don't think my body can take it any more!" I thought. (Stab) A poison dart was stabbed into Tai's neck, the village guards were there! "Next time..." Tai said before he fainted. "Hope we didn't make it too late!" A royal guard said. I looked away as they saw what hapenned to Daijo. "We came here too late, come to the palace Zaruru and Rena..." The royal guard said. In the palace where everyone was assembled. "Zaruru....You do know your consequences right?" Jira-sama stated. "Yes sir..." I said in dismay. " I won't punish you..." Jira-sama said. "Only because you proved you cared about your teammates by risking your life, and the squad you brought with you?" Jira-sama said. "Every one of them survived without a single scratch." Jira-sama smiled. Days after the incident they made a grave for Daijo, ingraved in it, it says: "Sorrow looks back, worry looks around, and faith looks up." ............
