Playing for Time by Arthur Miller
Concept: A Play about the Jewish Female Orchestra in the Aucshwitz Death Camp during WWII.
God, this play is tough. It's gonna be a b***h to light if Im breaking down during the performances like I did today - hopefully Hoff is right and I can "protect" myself and hang on to my sanity. The thing that gets me though, is that the only thing people can tell me to consider is that while not al justice was served, some of it did get served. That doesnt help me whatsoever, though - Im supposed to be happy that more people were executed? I know they were scumbags who had little right to life, but that doesnt mean that killing them was the proper way to serve "justice." So many people had died already... why am I supposed to feel better because even more were killed?
Capital Punishment me sick... I find it worse than Murder, actually. The difference between Capital Punishment and Murder is simple - Capital Punishment is legalized Murder, Murder that is condoned by the Government. If its wrong to kill someone, why is it right to kill someone for killing someone? I mean, rotting in a cell for the rest of their sorry lives is probably more devistating to their ego's, plus its not condoning the action that they themselves are guilty of.
It saddens me that humans can rationalize like this, and I thought we were supposed to be intelligent and beyond such barbarism. I just dont understand. I mean, I find the unnessecary deaths of people horrible, but I just cant justify the killing of the killer - its the old two wrongs dont make a right syndrome.
+6 Million Jews were exterminated through all forms of what are considered previous methods of Capital Punishment, and practically all of these methods are now considered morally wrong for one reason or another and not used - when will we realize that any form of it is wrong? Its sickening... absolutely sickening...
