Stephen never had the chance to achieve Overdrive. Or much of anything else, for that matter. He was on the ropes to begin with. He's made it through blood loss, blunt trauma, conflagration, first AND second degree burns, not to mention a lot of cuts, bruises, and other abuses from the stone ground. It was something of a miracle that he was still standing, seemingly propelled by will and the extra boost that the arena gave.
But then the striker came.
First, there was the frying pan to the side of the head.
Rhoslyn Vernal She swung the pan over her right shoulder, weight on her right foot. She turned her feet to get her weight over her left leg, left arm stretching out, body weight low and ready. A deep breath, and she spun as she moved back.
One spin! Two! And FLING, into a full-out discus throw, her left arm coming in as she spun. The skillet left her hands like a discus, flying straight for the side of Suity's head, thrown with the full intent to make the skillet go THROUGH the man's skull. Or, in other words, it had both the speed, weight, and power to knock the man right the ******** out and probably give him some serious skull fractures in the process. It'd take, at best, a half-second or so to impact, since there was some SERIOUS speed to this. The sheer force of the implement broadsided the man in the area around the temple and skull, causing heavy fractures from the collision. Not to mention a major concussion.
Then the knives.
Rhoslyn Vernal At the same time, the knives flew in angled up - the back one was at a shorter angle, aimed to skewer Suits directly in the back of the knee. The second one, however, came straight-on for Suity, clearly going at an angle where it'd sink in right under the jaw and keep rising. Literally, under the jaw. As in, he would probably have gum or tongue damage, but even if the knife somehow forced itself all the way up into Suity's head, he'd end up with a scritchy sinus, not "convulsions followed by death." Sort of like a KNIFE UPPERCUT, not an attempt to lodge the knife in the back of his throat. As per the last time, these knives would sink in at about an inch per second. Knee, Jaw. The leg would be crippled, forcing the man to fall in case the sudden shock of the concussion hadn't been enough to do it. The knife impaled the jaw, shoving it through the gum and tongue. Indeed, not a fatal blow by itself, but it would cause even more bleeding to occur from the already injured man's head.
Rhoslyn Vernal In terms of arrival, the skillet would get there within a half-second. The knee knife would hit a half-second later, and it'd take another second after that for the mouth-mutilator. In short: Skillet at 3.5, knee knife at 4, and face-knife at 5. Due to the speed of the attack and amount of focus he had put into the charge, even the heightened senses and emboldened feelings brought by the arena could not preempt the attack, meaning all blows landed flawlessly due to their sudden strike nature. Had this been the end of the striker, it would have been enough to put him out of commission and then some.
But there was more.
Rhoslyn Vernal Using her spinning momentum, Rhoslyn took a big step to her left, winced, and raised her right hand at Suity's face, charging towards Kain as she thew POWER into her Hand of Blood.Quote: |sidhe hand of blood|: Rhoslyn's right Hand of Power grants him several abilities: a ranged touch attack (untyped magical, about 2' wide from the center of his hand, shaped roughly cone-like in its forward projection). The ranged touch attack causes cuts to appear on or within his target - within three meters, this power causes damage akin to a shallow knife wound. However, the nature of this attack (reflecting one's own power back upon themselves, in essence) means that those who do not use any supernatural powers will at best get what looks like claw wounds if Rhoslyn's right hand touches their bare skin. On the other hand, a pure mage would be supremely ********] Suity had shown that he was, clearly, a POWER fighter. And he was charging up, and in a Power + area. Further, Rhoslyn's own power was boosted by the positive. So, Suits would feel like dozens of blades were doing their best imitation of a blender all over his face, ears, and the top of his head. If he tried to advance, it would only get worse. The man's body would be wracked with deep cuts as the very nature of his ability required him to bring every ounce of energy into sync with his body that he could. Exacerbated by the arena bonus given to both victim and striker, the "blender" effect would find its self significantly increased (if not outright doubled) beyond normal. As far as advancing was concerned, a falling man has little option but to accept gravity, thus making the effect even worse. Indeed, Stephen was, to use the phrase coined by Rhoslyn, "supremely ********." As his abused and decimated body fell to the floor, his head crashed against the jagged and crumbling stone floor, making the knife in his jaw shake and jiggle to further increase the blood loss and scrambling his brains even more. Rhoslyn Vernal [Time Elapsed: 6.45 seconds Total time of Hand use [Blood]: 2.45 seconds "" [Bone]: 1.5 seconds] The amount of time elapsed was unnecessary. The fight was over. Stephen was beyond saving. Much like an old man having a heart attack after running into his burning home from a gunfight, one would have to question exactly killed him. Was the severe blood-loss? The multiple blunt traumas to the head? The shock of taking so much physical damage at once? The sheer abuse of an already broken body? Something from the numerous other possible causes? Beyond the technicalities of it, the cause of death didn't really matter. Rhoslyn had utterly destroyed Stephen with her Striker, be it directly or as a result of her actions. And somewhere, an unknown number of miles away, a little girl was screaming in agony at a television screen. [Final Post] [Stephen Lasanti - Deceased]
