(Okay, let me start off by saying that this is based on a current RP... one that I haven't even made so much as an entry post in. {>> Sorry, guys, I'm getting to it! Honest!} Anyway... um... I just kinda thought of this as a later scene... like... really, really, really late scene as the rp progresses. I doubt this would actually play out as well as I had depicted but eh, it'd be interesting, no? So... read and enjoy!)
Roy's breaths came heavy as he hurried up the large stone steps. Echoing thuds sounded hollowly through the wide arching halls of the manor that the vampire, Hohenheim claimed as his own. He made it to the top of the stairs, lunging up the last few steps before running down the darkly crimson carpet that padded the marble floors. Dark grey eyes searching about for any sign of his target or some form of opposition but luckily, Izumi, Sig, and the Tringhams seemed to be doing their job by keeping the rest of the Elric clan off his back. Lightning flashed through the wide latticed windows that bedecked the left side of the wall, peering down upon the large, terraced courtyard below as it underwent its rough bath from the skies above. Thunder roared idly after each bolt of lightning that snaked its way across the clouds, enveloping them in flashes of white, portraying shadows and form to its otherwise glob-like body.
The dark haired man did nothing to slow his pace as he continued his mad dash down the hall. His eyes shone with renewed determination at seeing a double door entrance at the end. He sprinted and barged into the room, the doors swinging wide to his nonchalant entrance before banging into the sides of the wall on which their hinges were pivoted. There was no sense of being quiet now, knowing fully well that his ungracious hosts knew that he was here. He stumbled forward a bit into the center of the room, barely catching his balance at the last moment before quickly taking on a defensive stance as he searched about the room, his right hand gripped tightly onto his crossbow, raising it to his shoulder as his gaze finally fell upon the beast he had come for.
"So nice to finally make your acquaintance, Mustang." A cold, smooth voice sounded with a bored mocking tone from the golden haired man standing at the other side of the room near the balcony, his taller, bolder figure becoming a silhouette against the closed windows with each clash of lightning from outside, "Please, do care to sit down." He added, gesturing towards a chair that sat off to Roy's side, feigning pleasantries.
Roy gave no sign of taking advantage of the offer. "Where is she?" he demanded, not doing so well of a job to hide the anger in his voice. Hohenheim grinned darkly and held up a finger to his lips, "You might want to keep it down..." he said just above a whisper, walking behind an old couch and leaning down to stroke the pale face of a young blonde resting upon it, "She's had a very trying day... I'd say she deserves a bit of sleep." "Back away from her!" Roy growled in reply, his hand nearing the trigger and a light chuckle rose from the vampire's throat. "Now, now," Hohenheim chided lightly, "Since when had a gentleman ever dared to raise a weapon in a lady's direction?" he said, his fingers entwining themselves with Riza's golden tresses, keeping his bespectacled gaze upon the seemingly sleeping girl before showing a fanged smile, "That's rather rude." Roy growled again and took a step forward only to stop once more as Hohenheim turned her head, exposing her neck. Dark grey eyes widened in horror as he gaped at two perfectly symmetrical puncture wounds embedded within the soft flesh. Small ravines of crimson fluid trickled slowly from the bite, "She tasted rather wonderful... it's been a while since I've had virgin blood."
Roy seemed to have been rooted to the spot as the information slowly filed through his mind though he didn't want to accept it. Everything just seemed to stop as if his body were growing numb. It wasn't until something triggered in his mind that he needed air did he even realize that he had stopped breathing. After that though, things seemed to fall back into place once more and without a warning he quickly hefted the crossbow back to his shoulder and aimed an arrow at the vampire's head but his hand never closed around the trigger.
Hohenheim leaped forward, seemingly gliding across the floor before sending his fist into Roy's stomach, jabbing him with an upward thrust before sending his elbow to the human's back as Roy doubled over from the first blow. Roy gasped for breath as he tried to get up but soon felt the vampire's foot bash relentlessly into his side, rolling the slayer onto his back with a pained yelp. He tried to reach for the crossbow once more but Hohenheim easily kicked it aside and sent it sprawling towards the other end of the room and slammed his foot down onto the slayer's chest, pinning him to the floor.
"Is that it?" he remarked dryly, pushing down a bit harder onto the human as he struggled to get break away, "Is that all you have to show for? Quite a disappointment." He grinded his heel into Roy's chest, smirking wryly as a pained growl escaped the man's throat, "But nonetheless, you will prove useful." He lifted his foot finally and kicked Roy aside once more before walking back over to where Riza was lying.
Roy rolled over and slowly staggered to his feet with a grimace, clamping an arm around his sides that were already beginning to bruise. He would surely be feeling this for weeks to come, if he lived that long. "Useful?" he echoed and then spat out, "What makes you think that I'll follow through with your plans so willingly?" "Because it can benefit the both of us." Hohenheim replied simply, reaching out to stroke Riza's face once more, "Interested?" "I said back away from her!” Roy barked, acting more on his growing rage and bolted toward the vampire, his right hand instantly bringing out a stake from where it hung on his belt.
Hohenheim merely turned around and grabbed the man's wrist before side stepping to twist his arm behind his back, making Roy drop the stake before wrapping an arm around the man's throat, "How was it that you managed to stay alive this long when dealing with my kind? Have they really been that stupid or have you just been that lucky?" he said in that same cold mocking tone, tilting Roy's head slightly to expose his neck, "Either way, your reputation will help me acquire what I need." "Do you honestly think I would help you after killing my fiancé?!" Roy growled, pulling on the vampire's arm with his free hand in an attempt to free himself, though that only gave Hohenheim an incentive to tighten his grip. "But that's just the thing... I haven't killed her." Roy stopped struggling, "But the longer you fight against me, the shorter time she has..." Hohenheim's voice softened, "She's dying, Mustang... right before your very eyes... and only I have the power to save her." Roy shook his head, tearing his gaze away from Riza, "Even if you did, she wouldn't be the same." He hissed. "True, I can't promise that she will be the same girl you love after the change, but I know that the image of her walking around will keep you satisfied; so long as she retains that idea of 'life', right?" he took hold of the man's jaw and forced his head up to make him look at her, "The clock is ticking, Mustang, will you let her slip away from you or do you want a second chance? Who knows, maybe your affection for her might bring her around?" "What makes you so sure that I'd want to go that far?" "Because you can't stand the thought of losing her..." Roy fell silent and Hohenheim continued softly, "There was once a time... when I would have done the same..." "If you need me so much, why don't you just sire me instead?" Roy hissed again. A low chuckle emanated from Hohenheim, "That would be all too easy wouldn't it?" he said before sending a kick to the back of Roy's leg and pushed him down to his knees while pulling his arm further up his back, "But that wouldn't be as much fun. No, no, I need you very much alive." He said, letting go of Roy finally, pushing him roughly to the floor.
Roy sat up on his knees for a moment, rubbing his shoulder before taking a small glance back at the vampire. Hohenheim pretended to find something else of interest and slowly the slayer walked over to Riza's side, kneeling beside her. He dared himself to take hold of her hand, gently brushing a few strands of hair from her face. She felt cold and the pulse in her wrist was growing fainter, but the fact that there was one managed to bring some feeling of relief through the slayer's mind. He took in a strained breath and swallowed hard as a small knot took form in his throat. He traced the outline of her face and down her neck to the bite wound. It was from this did he become aware of the Hohenheim's presence once more and he turned his head to see the vampire was standing behind him now. He glowered at him sternly and then looked back down at Riza, bringing her hand to his lips, planting a soft kiss before hanging his head.
"Ironic isn't it?" the vampire's voice emanated thoughtfully, "Wanting to use the one power you're so desperate to kill..." "Take her..." Roy muttered weakly.
The vampire's lips curled into a dark smile and he walked over as soon as Roy had reluctantly moved aside, taking up the girl in his arms.
