[letter #17]
My Gracious and Caring Friend:
I'm not too happy to report that I am now soaking wet. As you probably know, it is raining now. I thought it was only a light sprinkle, so I stayed outside to write, but it started pouring before I could properly put away my things. As such, the cafe is full, the table is wet, and the umbrella above me is doing more dripping than protecting me. This paper will be blotchy and ripply by the time it gets to you. Perhaps I will copy this on a nicer paper.
However, I shouldn't be complaining, for I am warm. Your description sounded very uncomfortable, and I'm certain that it's not any better today than it was that day. I hope you have the time to indulge in a warm bath before some other bit of reality beckons for you to tend to it.
I have a smoke detector right outside my room, not in it. I guess that's not quite a good idea, is it? I'm certain I will be able to hear it if I ever am in such a situation, though. I'm more of a light sleeper. However, it is difficult to think of a fire when we're so surrounded by water, isn't it?
Having a garden is indeed a luxury I cherish. It does take a lot of work to maintain, like you said, but I think it is worth it to see all of the flourishing life outside. Of course, it helps that I have the time and the space to grow anything at all. I've been feasting on apples lately; their skins are rather tough, though. I suppose it's because I'm used to eating on genetically altered apples. Still, they do have a particular crunch to them.
An herb garden? Your kitchen must smell lovely. I have a few growing in a pot outdoors, and I know that the smell almost always lingers. I love the scent of them whenever I dice them for a dish or two; it's a great deal stronger than that of dried herbs. It lingers all afternoon most of the time.
I think the rain may be letting up. While it is still dropping waterdrops, there is a big patch of blue sky tinged by the sunset where the sun shines. It's rather blinding. I can guarentee that I'll be a very dark silhouette today. The air's rather biting, though, yet I hope that the wind blows all the clouds away.
I'll include a few pressed flowers once I get back home. I have a lot of them, and I don't quite know what to do with them. I'm sure you'll find something useful for them, and they'll make a beautiful present. I remember having a few rose petals, as well as several leaves that I pressed from late summer. I remember picking them from the small pot of trees at a resturant; they were a bright shade of golden. Now, they have a darker peach tinge to them.
I do believe that I will close this letter before it gets so inelligable that even I cannot read my own handwriting. Stay warm and dry!
Your Not Quite so Unfortunate Friend
[author's notes]
Long time no update. xP Ah well, I found the time to now, so I did. I was going to say something yesterday, but I totally forgot...I dunno.
I drew a cute piccy, and I'll dig it up and post it. Here.
I have inspiration to write more again. o.o Another rambly type thing, like this. Fanfiction, maybe? I visited Monterey (Steinbeck County!) and San Francisco yesterday to give my cousins a tour around...the sea air has gotten to me. Tis why it's raining in this fic.
And a decision has been reached about my name: it's staying. No one wanted it to change! :C
Eh, I have a lot of other things to say, but they're small things. I'll talk to you all later.
