After my last rant, i've decided to go out and befriend people in my town, and the neighboring 9-block, so we'll see how that goes biggrin
I'm an avid anime fan, MMORPG and regular RPG player, and i like to give constructive reviews from time to time.
First, Anime:
I use anime as a blanket subject for the Animation and Manga that originates from Japan. Today i'm reviewing Get Backers manga. I like to browse my local bookstores for the translated versions of manga cause...i can't read japanese, when i browse i follow my gut. What i look for varies at times, but usually its the "Next big manga/anime" Naruto, Bleach, and to lesser extents Azumanga Daioh, Samurai Deeper Kyo, Hellsing, and GTO have all been great series i've been fortunate to find before the main sphere of individuals jump on them and do everything related to it, IE fan art, blogging and god forbid Cosplay the characters.
These days my selection has been a stress of more realistic characters, a stray from my earlier interests of more outlandish personalities that would sorta stand out in a crowd. GTO, for example is very realistically based on the current(ok '97-2000's) economy and the characters interact in the sureal environment of japan. They are designed to accurately(ok semi-accurately) maintain humanistic features that you would pick out walking down a street.
Granted they are characteratures of humaniod form, but the style transends their form to display the character as a 3 dimentional individual and that, THAT is what makes manga great, lending to its popularity in our modern culture. Sure, characters like Naruto, Ichigo, and Inu Yasha are "dynamic" in a pinch, but truth be told, they're belief's are like One-trick-pony's, case and point Naruto's obstinate determination, cliche' "Believe it" phrase and all-to-frequent Flashbacks, draw away from the maincharacter and the series and turns it in to a test of the character's determination. Did you know the author of Naruto was originally attempting to make it more modern with technology included and it veered away from that to become something more rustic and feudal? Its true.
So to the point, Get Backers has that GTO feel of a dynamic environment and characters with a background further than page 1. Its not a"new" manga by any means, but it doesn't have to be to be great. however, thats another discussion all together.

yea ok, so i play it, i pay for it, i do enjoy it, its fun and its a good time killer. However of late my server, one of the older, starting servers since the game went to shelves has become "old" or more to the point, a piece of sh*t on a stick, and the stick's more constructive in that model. but seriously, the latest patch has added new emphasis to the world PvP environment in certain areas and trashed server stability. I've got latancy(ping, LAG) the likes i haven't seen since i started playing toward the "infancy" of the server. truely i'm about read to beat Blizzard about the face and neck with its own servers.
In other RPG business, i bought Derge of Cerberus but it sits in its box and my PS2 is collecting dust as i type this up :3 i like you all more than games, be happy. I look forward to playing that soon, may end up being tomorrow(12:10 am now). Also look forward to picking up Disgaea2!!!!! zomg great game! ok, enough of that.
Seriously, good RPG, i like the battle system/style alot. Reminds me of FFT, plus the lvl cap is 9999, not 100, so that's awesome too. not that you need 9999 to beat the game, but its fun to strive for the very best in any situation. Looking forward to it!
Finally: headed outta town this weekend, hitting up daytona to visit my good college friends, gonna hang out, shoot the breeze, get some anime from them, and nerd it up online biggrin till later! Send me gold!
