~* Ramblings of a Psychotic LAAer *~
Day 1 of ~My Life As A Mid-20's Production Assistant~
I tried to get to bed last night in enough time, honest I did. How was I to know I'd do what I always do the day before doing something overly exciting, exhausting, and irritating? gonk I got maybe 2-3 hours sleep total, since I kept getting up to try and get the computer to work properly-ish. I ended up getting up right at 6am at the 2nd alarm ring. I called Heather (my friend whp was also gonna be a PA), who was mere moments from calling me as we'd originally planned. I had my full shower and was back in my room when Mom came in. She wondered why I was getting up so early, and I just said I was. It wasn't until we were heading out the door that I told her about the movie.

Even with the 20-minute late start, we still got there right on time. Some kids were wearing period-like costumes, and some just had on normal clothing, which was fine since most schools has about the same results on their own land runs. I got to be in charge of the blue group (yay, blue! blaugh ), which included a cute little girl wearing the right outfit, including bonnet, but who tended to get overheated kinda quickly (though she was plenty fine once the meds kicked in and she got to playing on my DS... ninja ). The kids only did little segments outside, usually 20 minutes with 10 minutes in-between for camera movement. A lot of the early shots were just the Land Run bit, with a couple practice Runs to start and claim their spots. The Land was in the shape of Oklahoma (how original..) with boxes in chalk, one for each of the 20-or-so kids (one spot left over, woo!) Once they learned not to run over each other, the camera, and especially the director (fun guy, actually, but you could see the stress; I look forward to seeing how he thought the day went). He had only 3 rules.

1. If anyone was getting too hot or needed to sit, or anything else badly, get someone's attention and we'd take care of it. 3nodding
2. Dun look at the camera. xd
3. Dun look at the camera. lol

Ya think he really meant to not look into the camera...? If some kids looked, whatever. Mainly my job during this part was to make sure my kids were all right (the overheated one with a desire to use my DS just so happened to be in my group, yippee... rolleyes ) and that they stayed consistent in their outfits. Other than one kid always taking his hat with him but only wearing it in the sitting part once, and one girl who ran in sneakers but sat in red boots, and the aformentioned girl sitting out one set and forgoing shoes in the close-up stuff (she tucked her feet under her, so that was ok), my job was just peachy. Other than that, I spent other parts of the day gathering permission forms, having watermelon cut, scrubbling scuff marks off the cafeteria floor after the kids left, sweeping the floors, running out with sunscreen for the cinematographer, running back in for cups for the outside water cooler, and trying to ogle Yasmine secretly and trying not to go fangirl until we left and were down the road after wrap. rofl heart

Now about one of the stars. Yasmin Tuazon is playing Miss Woods, the key teacher in the final segment of the movie (today's and tomorrow's stuff), and perhaps some other stuff depending on what else the people need. She's totally gorgeous, and as soon as I got home and got the computer running again I looked her up. I didn't save anything, but she seems pretty interesting, and she's only done one other film so far (check IMDb). She had on a white top (with a black bra underneath; yes, I noticed this) and a tan skirt, and we got into a great conversation during lunch over sci-fi stuff in general and Trek Expo specifically. I hope I can keep in touch with her, she's such a great conversation person, and she's cute, too. blaugh

Depending on how things go with the production, I may or may not be back out in Pawhuska Tuesday &/or Wednesday. We'll just have to wait and see... blaugh heart

Little update 8/11 12:39AM. Blog by the director on the site seen below confirmed that we had 111 degrees. That's three 1's folks. I hadn't felt that kind of heat in a very long time, so I am feeling it! gonk
