"Right," Nissa replied. Tilting her head to the right, she said, "
Rose is heading home."
"Why?" I asked.
"She...needs to get some things from her house," Nissa said.
"You may have the brain of three galaxies," I said. "But you're a--"
An explosion rocked the house. Spinning around, Nissa placed herself between me and a spout of flame that had filled the hall. When the flame died away, Nissa spun me away. Tilting her head to the left, she said, "Systems are...in working order. Someone got a little c-4 happy to bypass my security systems."
"So you're saying we've got intruders?" I asked.
"Yes," Nissa replied brightly. Her head still tilted to the left, she added, "There's something odd about them though."
"What?" I asked. Knowing what Nogard was going to ask, I said to her, "We will check in a second. I want to know what we're up against."
"They're mutants," Nissa said. "Not any strand I've seen either."
"What was that boom?" Holly asked, stepping out from behind one of my hidden doors with LeRoy right behind her. Suddenly, Nissa's hair and eye color changed and she lifted me off the floor with one hand.
Throwing me into Nogard, Nissa approched LeRoy and Holly. Growling, LeRoy placed himself between Nissa and Holly. As easily as she had thrown me aside, she threw LeRoy aside.
Backing up, Holly said, "Nissa, listen to me. Someone has invaded your system. You need to force them out by using Trojan Horse Program 159-7034-862."
"Your reqest has been denied," the android replied in a voice that was decidedly NOT Nissa's. The pitch was four octaves lower. "And you're coming with me."
