The Love of Inuyasha

“Stand back, Kagome!” Inuyasha yelled. He drew his tetseiga from his belt and held it steady in front of him, and was ready for battle.
“Inuyasha, what do you think you’re doing?!” Kagome exclaimed. “It’s just a rabbit!” Imuyasha looked down at the small, harmless animal and saw its terrified eyes staring back at him.
“Oh…” Inuyasha murmured quietly. “Well, I just don’t want anything to hurt you.” Kagome looked into Inuyasha’s eyes and grabbed his hand and held it tight.
“You have nothing to worry about, Inuyasha.” She said. “Nothing is going to happen to me.” Those words reassured him that she was going to be okay, and they set off once again to find the last two shards of the Shikon Jewel. Those last two shards were the objects separating Inuyasha, and eternal power. Once the shards were found, Inuyasha could become a full demon, and defeat his mortal enemy, which happens to be his brother, Sesshomeru.
“All that power,” Inuyasha thought, “it could all be mine.” Alongside his thoughts of eternal power, he daydreamt about his Kagome. He had fallen in love with her the second he laid his eyes on her. The image of beauty he had thought of quickly changed to darkness and evil. “What if I were to become a full demon, and not have total control of my power?” Inuyasha thought to himself. “Where would Kagome go? She would probably have to stay away from me so she wouldn’t be hurt.” Inuyasha pushed the bad thoughts out of his head and thought back to her beauty, and how different his life would be without her, but in the midst of his daydreaming, he was abruptly brought back to reality by a scream, and it came from Kagome’s direction.
Inuyasha turned around and found Kagome on the ground, clutching something in her hands.
“Kagome!” Inuyasha yelled. “Kagome what’s wrong?!” He knelt down by her side and looked at her face; she was in shock.
“Kagome. Kagome are you okay? SNAP OUT OF IT KAGOME!!” Inuyasha yelled, and he shook her until she finally snapped back into reality. Inuyasha sighed in relief and helped her up off of the ground.
“Inuyasha, look what I found!” She said with a happy sort of tone. She held out the stone that she had found and handed it to Inuyasha. I was one of the Shikon Jewel shards! That was the jewel that Inuyasha needed to become a demon. Just a small piece of that jewel held so much power. He felt the rush of energy dash through his veins. He shoved it back into her hands, but she gave it back to him.
“There’s no more room in the bottle for me to hold it. You’ll have to hold it for now.” Kagome told Inuyasha this, and he hid the shard in a small crease in his kimono. When he placed it in his kimono, he felt his heart beat faster then it has ever beaten before. He looked up and saw the reflection of the sun on the mountains slowly fade, and then disappear. A thick cloud had moved in front of the sun and blocked all the sunlight from reaching the earth. A raindrop had fallen onto Inuyasha’s cheek, and he looked up to see that multiple raindrops were falling from the sky. It was starting to rain. Inuyasha grabbed Kagome’s hand and they both scurried out of the rain and into a hollowed out oak tree and were safe from the rain. Together, they rested against the withered bark of the ancient tree, and relaxed.
“Kagome,” Inuyasha said softly. “I’m scared.” Kagome had never herd these words come out of Inuyasha before. Startled, she moved closer to him and wrapped her arms around him and asked, “Why are you scared, Inuyasha?”
“Well, once we find the last jewel shard, I’ll become a full demon.” Inuyasha started.
“Yes, and then you’ll be able to defeat Sesshomeru, and be a powerful ruler.” Kagome replied in a weak voice. Her eyelids were getting heavy and she was almost half asleep.
“Well, if I were to become a full demon, I don’t know what would happen to me. What I mean is what if I can’t control my power? Will I ever get to see you again? I don’t want you to go away and never see me again.” Inuyasha took in a deep breath and tried to find his words. “Look, what I’m really trying to say is, I love you Kagome.” After a few moments of complete silence, Inuyasha looked down at Kagome’s face and saw that she was asleep.
“She probably didn’t hear me.” Inuyasha thought to himself.
He laid back and whispered, “Good night Kagome.” Inuyasha soon fell into a deep sleep guided by the small sighs of Kagome and the falling of the raindrops outside.
Inuyasha was awaked by a shrieking scream that came from outside of the hollow tree. He quickly glanced around and saw no
sign of Kagome anywhere. He jumped to his feet and drew his tetseiga from his belt and sliced the whole top of the tree trunk off and it landed oh the cold ground with a loud CRASH! When the dust from the crash cleared, he still saw nothing. He tried to follow Kagome’s scent, but for some strange and unknown reason, he could not.
“INUYASHA!!” He hears. “Inuyasha help me!” The voice is Kagome’s, but Inuyasha cannot find where it’s coming from.
“Kagome!” He yells back. “Kagome where are you?!” He glances at the trees again to try and find something, but he fails. He takes a deep breath and notices a change in the scent of the air. A thick scent of cunningness was in the air. Inuyasha knew exactly who it was.
“Sesshomeru.” He said aloud. Sesshomeru leaped down from the tree a few yards away from Inuyasha. Kagome was in his hand, struggling to break free from him grip, but failed.
“So, you found me. It took you long enough,” Sesshomeru snickered. “And because of your laziness, I stole this girl from right under you, and you didn’t even notice! I despise being your brother.” By this time, Inuyasha had heard enough. There was no way that Sesshomeru was going to hurt Kagome.
“Let her go Sesshomeru!” Inuyasha warned, but all Sesshomeru did was laugh an evil laugh. With all of his strength, Sesshomeru launched Kagome into the air, and out of sight.
“KAGOME!!!!” Inuyasha yelled. He looked back Sesshomeru. Inuyasha’s eyes were filled with anger now. “You son of a –” Inuyasha was cut off when Sesshomeru drew his tetsega from his belt and held it at Inuyasha’s throat.
“Listen to me you little ungrateful half-demon,” Sesshomeru started “I deserve the Shikon Jewel. That girl has the pieces that I need to become more powerful then anyone could ever dream of, and once I become the most powerful demon in all the land, I will kill you and the girl.”
“How can you, huh?” Inuyasha said slyly. “You don’t have the last jewel shard.”
“Ah, but that is where you’re wrong, Inuyasha.” Sesshomeru held up a small shining jewel. Inuyasha couldn’t believe it. He has the last jewel. Inuyasha was in awe and could not think of anything to say.
“Yes that’s right, weep over my victory” Sesshomeru said harshly. He chanted a sacred jutsu that caused a sharp blow to come out of the end of his tetsega, which knocked Inuyasha onto the ground, totally helpless. Sesshomeru stood back, and held out his hand, and Kagome flew back into his possession. She saw Inuyasha, hurt and lying motionless of the ground. She screamed, but in a flash, they were gone, and only a cloud of dust and the echo of Kagome’s voice remained.
Inuyasha got up onto his knees and clenched his hands into fists. He smashed them against the earth, and tightly closed his eyes. All of the sounds around him had suddenly come to a halt. One tear rolled down his cheek, followed by another, and another. No matter how hard he tried, he could not hold back his emotion. After a few moments of silence, he heard the sound of glass on rocks. He opened his eyes and saw a small jewel-looking rock was under him. He picked it up and realized that it was the last jewel shard. He remembered that Kagome had told him to hold onto it. While gazing at the jewel, his eyes turned from upset and full of fear, to small slits filled with anger. He swooped up his tetseiga and chased off after the scent of Sesshomeru, seeking the last of the jewel shards, and revenge.
After running for a minute or two, he had finally found Sesshomeru’s scent, and it was headed toward the mountains. He climbed the highest mountain in the country, all the way to the top. Making sure he stayed out of sight, he crawled behind a boulder, and listened to what was going on. He heard Sesshomeru talk to Kagome as if she were a piece of garbage. Inuyasha peeked his head around and saw Kagome’s hands were tied behind her back and around a large wooden pole, and a cloth was tied around her mouth. Sesshomeru walked over to her and said, “Now, how about you give me those jewel shards.” Kagome glared back at him and turned her head the other way. Sesshomeru got angry and ripped the necklace off of her neck, leaving a deep gash in her neck because of the rope. A blood drop falls off of her neck and onto the snow below her. Once Inuyasha saw that, he could not take the pressure any longer. He jumped out from behind the boulder and yelled, “No one hurts Kagome and gets away alive!” Sesshomeru turned around and faced Inuyasha.
Kagome’s eyes filled with light and hope at the sight of Inuyasha. Sesshomeru just gave Inuyasha a sly smile and snickered, “Prepare to die, you sorry excuse for a demon.” They both drew their swords out and jumped right into the battle. Inuyasha attacked Sesshomeru with his “Wind Scar” attack, and Sesshomeru attacked back with a “Dragon Twister” jutsu. The “Dragon Twister” was too much of an impact for Inuyasha to handle, and it knocked him back into the side of the mountain. Sesshomeru walked toward him, passing Kagome on the way there. Kagome could not stand watching Inuyasha getting hurt, and she loosened the knots that bounded her hands behind her. She removed the cloth from her mouth, and quickly got up to her feet. She heaved the wooden stake out of the ground, and struggled to keep her balance. Sesshomeru was facing toward Inuyasha and did not notice Kagome sneak up behind him. She swung the stake over Sesshomeru, striking him in the head. He passed out, and Kagome helped Inuyasha up. Kagome grabbed the bottle of jewel shards from Sesshomeru’s hand, and then was swooped up by Inuyasha and they quickly made their decent down the mountain. Once at the bottom, Inuyasha put Kagome down and they walked down a dirt path that ran beside the river.
They found an old tree and sat leaning against its ancient bark, gazing up at the moon. Kagome rested her head on Inuyasha’s shoulder, and held his hand.
“Inuyasha,” Kagome said
“Yes Kagome?” Inuyasha replied softly.
“Now that you have all of the jewel shards, you could become a full demon.” Kagome said softly. A tear ran down her cheek and hit Inuyasha’s hand. He raised her chin and looked at her in her eyes. He wiped away her tears and said to her softly, “Kagome, I don’t think that I’m going to turn into a full demon.”
“Why?” Kagome asked.
“Because I…” Inuyasha was at a loss of words. “I…I love you Kagome, and if I turn into a full demon, I’m afraid I’ll never see you again.” The wound on Kagome’s neck was still bleeding; Inuyasha ripped a piece of his kimono off and held it against Kagome’s neck. Kagome put her hand on Inuyasha’s.
“Inuyasha,” She sighed. “I love you too.” Inuyasha pulled her close and kissed her. Kagome gazed into Inuyasha’s eyes and said, “Oh, Inuyasha. I don’t want this night to end.”
“Neither do I, Kagome. Neither do I.” Inuyasha replied in a soft whisper. Kagome rested her head on his shoulder and she fell asleep in his arms. Inuyasha slowly shut his eyes, and dazed into a deep sleep, lead by Kagome’s small sighs and the sound of the leaves blowing in the wind.
