A Journey Of A Thousand Miles Begins With But One Step.
New World Blues: The Early Days
Im added a new entry today as I think I hit a sort of milestone.

Since the last entry I have managed to walk to the small old house I scouted a few days prior when I had been looking for supplies to get ready to "move out" to a more secure or at the least defensible place to make home.

I had managed to be doubly lucky that day as I found a pantry in the basement of a two-story house a little out of the way off the main road. It had almost more canned food than I could carry, but I knew I would have felt greedy if I had taken every bit of it when I wasnt starving or in any great need.

So, I put a dozen cans back in the pantry, out of about 30 or so total assorted cans.

"Okay, at least if anyone else does manage to get here they will have something to have made it worthwhile to look in here" I mused to myself as I grasped the pack over my shoulder.

From there I gave the house a search for anything useable or trade worth should I ever find anyone to trade with. In the search I had mixed results, some good and some less than spectacular finds from drawers and stuff laying here and there on counters an as well scattered on the floor in a few places.

Found:
1) Box of matches 3/4th full
2) Assorted batteries of a few different sizes
3) First Aid Supplies....a great find!
Including
- Rubbing Alcohol
- Iodine
- Band Aids

And a few small odds and ends, like a few good kitchen knives and a few bars of soap.

I had a load, so I headed out on my way back to my house / home for now when I saw the house I mentioned. It was a bit further off the road than the house I just scavenged nestled in a small grove of trees.

I got close moving slowly as I looked out for any recent inhabitants. As I got nearer an nearer I found no signs of people nor recent signs of it being lived in. It was old probably before everything that had happened and had been abandoned for several years previously.

Once I looked around once more, I went in walking carefully watching for the first sign that I needed to get out quickly. As I treaded slowly trying to make as little sound as possible, I soon realized it was safe and I could explore ay my leisure.

I was old and was quite worn in many places....but it was sturdy and had only two exits a front door and a back door. And there only 3 rooms total, what looked like a "Living Room" a "Kitchen" and a small "Bedroom".

The bedroom barely big enough to fit a box spring mattress in and a bedside table. The house was bare though as Im sure it was cleared of furniture and appliances years ago, the rooms look had led me to guess eaches purpose, though I did see a toilet in one room beside a wall mounted medicine cabinet and though it was of course a small bathroom area once.

After having looked the small old house over I lugged my bag over my shoulder and trekked back to my main house/ home with my goodies. I started thinking of what needed to be done right away and as well seeing what preparations were needed before moving to my new house/ home.

I have a few things to do before bedtime, so Im finishing up this entry then off to bed and sleep.

Goodnight
