overwhelming - adjective
the word crumbles around you and all
you can do is watch. you've tried to hold onto
ledges but all you do is cut your hand.
you falter and trip but what matters is someone
is there. you trip and fall and scrape your knees
largely by yourself but sometimes someone is there
to tie your shoelaces.
you don't know how to show anything besides
fear. you can't express anything but sadness and
that creeping sensation of falling deathly ill.
and when you try to be anything else
someone else
it ends up being wrong.
it ends up being disorganised and hastily thrown together
and
overwhelming.
dramatic - adjective
there is no winning the fight here there is only
dealing with the pain. there's no medal no pedestal
only the defeating promise of 'there's always tomorrow'.
you've mastered the art of hiding this the art of
flowing through crowds unseen and unimportant.
sometimes it's too much the taunting the persistent
existence of those who are happier. you don't know
why you can't have this you don't know why it's always
temporary and when you finally scream and cry and burn
suddenly all you are
is dramatic.
