The Underground Archives Of Kyo
This is an archive of my experiences on Gaia Online, where I talk about friends, forums, RPs, stuff that happens in chat, et cetera. I try to update this often. (Key word is try. lol)
IRL Tales: Voice Training
Good lord, I have so much homework! I was able to squeeze a little bit of free time out of my last semester, but this semester has me suffocated. The only time I could find to even think about logging onto Gaia was right now before I have to go to bed. Though now that I'm making this again, I have to say I feel a little better. It's refreshing to be able to express myself on the internet again, even if it's going to be for only a short while.

But with that out of the way, I have some really good news. Apparently, another college which is partnered with mine has a service for male-to-female voice training. And as a student of my college, I get a discount to use their service for very cheap. I tell you, it was so hard even getting the application filled out when I did so at the end of last semester. But now that the trainer is back from maternity leave, I was finally ready to learn how to sound female.

On my first day there, I learned some interesting things about pitch. Pitch is, of course, the difference in male and female voices that everybody knows. There's more to them than pitch alone, but it's definitely a factor. My voice trainer stated that men's voices tend to be around a frequency of 100 hertz, while female voices are more often around 200 to 220 hertz.

She actually had me speak into a machine to measure my current pitch, and I couldn't believe it. Turns out I'm naturally at a 180 frequency! Now, I have a small habit of intentionally making my voice a little higher whenever I'm in public. And when that was measured on the machine, I was at a 190 frequency. As you can see, that's a lot more than most males, as I'm actually closer to female frequencies. Guess that's one of the reasons people are increasingly seeing me as a girl IRL.

I was over there yesterday, and actually got some practice with our first vocal exercises. Not only did we talk more about other factors of a female voice, but I reached a new high in my pitch. During the exercise, I actually reached the female frequency of 200. And I haven't even been trained for that long. Just imagine what I could do with more experience under my belt.

Guess I should've expected this, because when Lock heard me speaking on Skype prior to these lessons, he couldn't believe I was male for a second. Rosario had also mentioned long ago about my voice being "all high-pitched and feminine". I may not have developed any breasts from these pills yet, but at least I have some saving graces in femininity. It's in my voice.

Now I just have to keep practicing until the next appointment, while trying to juggle my college homework at the same time. But until then...

Be Right Back, World!
