"We are," started Axel, "that is, Xemnas, me, and ten others, the Organization. We.... well.... experiment on the heart and really... want to know of its workings."
"Wait," I said, starting to get lost, even after only this small part of the explanation that was long overdue. "What do you mean, the heart? Do you mean our physical heart? 'Cause a bunch of scientists at my world already know how that works."
"No," answered Axel. "The heart we are more interested in is more like your feelings and memories."
That made sense. In some weird way this was starting to make sense.
"All of us are nobodies, those without hearts."
"Nobody is an insult on my world. Why would you call yourselves that?" I asked.
Axel ignored my question. "Nobodies are created when a strong-hearted person loses their heart in some way. The stronger the heart, the stronger the nobody. Strength does not mean good. It's more of your will."
"Xemnas said I was like him, and he's a nobody.... and he called me a nobody, too. So does that mean...." I didn't want to say it. The truth was dawning on me. I had no heart, just like these people. "But I do have a heart!" I yelled at Axel. "I've felt fear and hope and happiness and...." I trailed off. What were those things, anyway? They were more fuzzy to me, like... "...memories?" I asked.
Axel nodded. "Now that you finally aren't as ignorant as before you need to talk to Vexen. Generally he creates the Organization's weapons."
"Vexen?" Yet another.....
