God dammit! After my 5 years of driving, I finally got into my first major car accident (that I pretty much caused). Here's the basic run-through:
Our stop light was red. I was pulling up to make a right turn and there's a car in front of me. It's the right turn where the road is curved (not a 90 degree right angle turn) (if that makes sense). So me and the car in front of me are at a stop. I see the car move forward and I thought that it went, so I inch forward and look to the left to see if incoming cars are coming. Only one passes by and I accelerate as I look back to the right....... then BOOM. Apparently the car hadn't gone when i assumed it did. x_x; There's not too much damage... just some bumper scratches and crap.
So lesson for the day? It's what they all say: Do not assume... because when you assume, all it does is make an a** out of U and ME.
Yea, so that kinda sucks. What REALLY sucks is that I just had the front bumper of my car fixed and painted ('cuz someone previously backed up into me). So it's only been a month since my car's been nice & new... and now the bumper is scratched again.
Well, whateva. The accident doesn't change me... it just leaves less money in my wallet.
