They're the bodyguards of the family, so the look at protecting every single one. Most notably, they pay close attention to Mother and Valeska's well being.

History:
Alois and Deiter were twins. The most inhuman thing about them was that they felt what the other was feeling, literally. A bond between them was so strong that it seemed each was just an extension of the other. It was a good thing for both. Since Pain was shared between two people, they were able to last in fights much longer.
They ran away from home when people started getting weirded out and suspicious by their 'twin bond'. Offered sanctuary by Helmina, they accepted, and grew to love the family they grew up into. Unbelievably strong, they pitched in in almost everything.
When the villagers killed them all, Alois and Deiter Died trying to hold back everyone else just to let the others escape. They both died in battle, when Deiter was decapitated by one of the villagers.
When reborn, Another Chaos God got interested in the two, Khorne. Being the god of bloodshed and violence, he gave them the abilites of the perfect warrior. Slaanesh sewed them together though, to prevent an 'accidental death/cheating' from happening, and to make them stronger.
