So. I tried to donate blood today. I waited in the "line" for an hour and a half. I was number 98, and i went during my third period (they had already had zero period and first period sooo..). I sat with my friend Hailey, who was number 97, and we played "musical chairs of death", as the two of us "lovingly" called it. Every time the person sitting in the far right chair in the first row got called, everyone would move over a chair. I was shaking the ENTIRE time. No joke. When they finally called me in the "questioning and finger-needling area", the nurse i had asked me questions and such. When she took my pulse, it was 110. She said, "Hmm. Your pulse is high. Are you scared?" And I said, "NO. Well.. Maybe... Yeah, actually... I'm TERRIFIED." and she just laughed and said "Don't worry, hun, this is the most painful part." She asked for me to hand her one of my hands, and so i did. She proceeded to pull out a thing that looked like.. I don't even know what.. She cleaned off my ring finger with the alcohol wipe things, and then put the pokey thing up to my finger. She said "Don't worry. This won't hurt a bit." and then BAM. The needle thing stabbed my finger. All I did was stare at it. The nurse had a purple stethoscope around her neck, so i commented about it. I said "I like your stethoscope! Purple's my favorite color." and she was like "Thank you! It's my daughter's favorite color, too." Then, she squeezed my finger, and wiped the blood away with gauze. She did that like.. 5 times, and then put my blood in a test thing. Then she put a band-aide on it. We had a nice conversation about how I was scared of needles. We talked for like.. 10 minutes. Then her little machine thing buzzed, and she was like ".... Oh my... Your hemoglobin level is low. I'm not going to let you donate today. I'm sorry. I'll go get your paperwork, and then you can go. I'll be right back." And my mood went from mad to -_- in a matter of seconds. When she came back, she had me sign something, and then gave me a paper explaining how to get it up and it had the level mine was written on it. My level was 11.6. The minimum was 12.1. In my head I was like REALLY?!?! but I didn't say anything. I just said "Thank you very much" and headed on my way. I got back to my class (it was still third period [our classes are like.. almost 2 hours each, but we only have 0+ 3 classes a day, so it's awesome]) and they were watching a movie. Of course. I opened the door, and EVERYONE turned to look at me. I was like "Uh.." And just sat down. SO YEAH. No blood donation for me today -_-
