xxxxxxxxxxxxWhen her powers manifested in Orlando during one of many heated arguments Farren had had with her parents, she was sent to New York to live with her god-mother, Nancy, and guardianship was legally established. Nancy's son, Mark, was a lower level member of the rapidly growing "Friends of Humanity", FOH for short, so discretion in regards to Farren's ability was key to her survival. When Mark rose through the ranks of power in the FOH at a rather alarming rate, it became clear Farren needed to find a safer haven to reside. That's how she came to be at the Institute the first time. During which she became a member of the New Mutants team, led by Evelyn Reed at the time. She faced the Hellfire Club, dueled against Sh'iar's Elite Guard (specifically Blackthorn), and helped rescue the Reed sisters from Magneto's evil clutches. After the latter mission, Farren returned to Nancy & Mark for a holiday surprise. During her visit, she witnessed the accidental death of her god-mother (only for it to be later revealed as a homicide), exposed the current location of the then at-large mutant terrorist, Magneto, revealed intimate information about the fighting forces of the mansion & the students residing within, and stared down the barrel of a gun toted by the son of an up and coming FOH member.
Insert Onslaught {Onslushie}: Onslaught was the mental creation of the evilness of Magneto and the ferocity of Evelyn's desire to fulfill Xavier's dream. The powerful entity had gone on a murderous rampage in New York, destroying any mutants in his path (easily wiping out Sebastian Shaw of Hellfire). The aftermath of this event put much of the mansion under scrutiny by the US government.
Just before the mansion was put on lock-down and questioned by authorities in regards to the destruction left in Onslaught's wake (oh which the floramancer had no knowledge of), Farren slipped out to aid in a wilderness training session for a handful of rookies {insert Wookie joke}. After watching the five rookies mercilessly slaughtered and her team leader tossed around like a rag doll by a creature not of this world and closely compared to a hill giant in size, Farren and two other girls (Isabella & Teagan) were abducted by said giant with their mission leader, Jacen in unconscious tow.
The four had been chosen by a dreadfully all-powerful entity known as Apocalypse to serve as his Four Horsemen and usher in his tide of world destruction. While the other three resisted and fought against the procedure, Farren, now enlightened to the truth of Nancy's death (injected with poison by Mark's FOH handler), embraced the proffered power and chance of revenge. Fueled with rage & other worldly power, Farren (now going as Famine) brought forth death to the city of love, Paris, as a self-justified pissed off Mother Nature. She utterly destroyed the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, & the Louvre before the X-Men team managed to stop her and removed the power boost in her system Apocalypse had supplied her with. While still on bedrest in the MedLab, the resignation and disappearance of the two people she admired & respected greatly occurred: Evelyn Reed & Jacen Daniels.
After it being revealed she had had no mental alteration, brainwashing, as had been done to the others, her status on the crime fighting team was temporarily suspended and she was required to undergo therapy with the gun toting, mental suggestion happy, Kim as the two traveled around the country to numerous safe havens designed for mutants and mutant-lovers alike, ensuring safety and supplies were maintained at manageable levels.
After three years of dealing with her inner "Horseman" side revealed, Farren was approached by Magick, keeper of Limbo at the time. She was needed to aid in quelling the rising demon forces from taking over the worlds. During which was she reunited with a few old faces; Evelyn, Jacen, & Kellen Oyvind.
If charted in a single universe, Farren fought in Limbo for five years, but there, in the land between heaven and hell, time is relative and there are no calendars on the wall. By the time the war ended and peace was once again restored, Magick's side had experienced severe losses. Only a handful of the original team survived, and much to everyone's dismay, Lady Thorne & Lord Revenert (sp?) (otherwise known as Evelyn & Jacen) were not to be included in that number. Their deaths were not to be meaningless, Farren firmly decided and managed in the final battle to avenge them against the specific guilty demon in question with his very own weapon, its blade still red from the blood of her fallen comrades. She carries it with her still; both as a tribute to the two former X-Men and as a reminder the fighting will only ultimately stop if she is willing to do what most others aren't, make the difficult decisions, and to hell with the consequences.
After the final battle, victory feast, and farewells, Farren stepped through one of Magick's portals, ready to return home. It was home, but it wasn't at the same time. It was the Institute, but none of these mutants knew her, knew of her attempts to destroy the world, knew of her fully restored status as an X-Man. Farren actually had a real chance at a clean slate, at finally starting over, was that really a good thing? If these people didn't know anything about her fall, how could the possibly keep her accountable?

Used to be, she was the one with the cool head in a heated situation. Now she’d rather bloody first and ask questions later. After the death of her close advisor, this mentality intensified.

P.W.-->She no longer go out of her way to make ppl feel welcomed. Her old friends, teammates, would say she’s no longer vibrant, and smiles, but after losing your world, who really would be? (When in the presence of her eccentric roommate, Orchid, she quite a bit more open, although she has very little tolerance for stupid people.)

xxxxxxxxxxxxD e f i n i t i o n → Farren is a floramancer. Plant/plant energy manipulation. She is capable of transferring the energy of plants to either imbued herself, or to another piece of nature. She is a conduit for the energy, with the ability to keep some herself. Due to the many years of passing the proteins called photosynthetic reaction centers that contain chlorophylls back and forth between assorted targets, and thus the collection of protein & sugars, Farren is now capable of converting her fingers into vines, and when she's grounded, she can also "bark" up her skin, providing more towards defense but limiting her mobility greatly. It was discovered, while spending her time abroad with her therapist, Farren has the capability of creating her own food through the method of photosynthesis. In general outline, the process is opposite of cellular respiration (how humans normally obtain and release chemical energy), and when examined extensively by the Dr MacTaggert, and later Dr McCoy, it was discovered her body had been converting to the photosynthesis process exponentially since the manifestation of her mutant ability. Now, Farren is a point when she isn't required to eat in order to survive, but she still loves food and rarely misses a well cooked meal.

xxxxxxxxxxxxW e a k n e s s e s → Like most plant life in the winter time, Farren becomes unusually weak and and lacking of energy during the cooler months of the year and has established an overwhelming hatred for snow/ice/hail. Although she isn't as helpless and vulnerable as she was before with the help of a necklace a former teammate gave her, she certainly attempts to avoid physical confrontations and using her powers. She also has a vulnerability to fire and the like, especially when she's in her "barked up" form.
