Well, hello there. You've stumbled into the section that details the new features of the End of Days game, if you were looking for something else, please check the archive, if not then I advise you to continue reading.
Alright, some new features I've added recently (and some old ones that are still active) will go below this sentence.
New Features:
-Safehouse: Players can now create a safehouse! If you happen to find an abandoned building, you have the opportunity to barricade it. You can use wooden items like plywood to start with, but once you find the right tools, you can add on metal pieces to help with the barricade or anything else you can think of. Players that made their home in the same building in single player, are sent to their version of the building in multiplayer. The only way to get IN to the other players safehouse is if they forget to close the door and lock it (yes, that is part of it as well) or if you have their key.
-More detailed customization: Players now have the chance to customize a LOT of their equipment. Want to outfit your favorite duster-coat with some metal shoulder pads? Find the equipment and get to work. You can use the mouse (or controller if you use one, I use my Xbox 360 controller) to decide where to place the metal. To make it easier, you can take off bits of metal from a larger piece (say a corner, to add some metal spikes to your gloves, the rest goes on a kneepad or something) to do something more with your equipment. I'm still working out the details with all of this customization stuff and how it will affect characters and gameplay. I'll post more when I get the opportunity.
-Respawning Notes: Now, for my game, I've decided to follow the way the anime .hack//sign went. When one character was killed, they had to revert to an old save file, and build up again. For instance, say you attack Harbinger and he kills you, instead of respawning, you can load an old save to continue from. I realize this is going to irritate a bunch of people who've gotten used to respawning, well tough, you guys aren't clones, so either get some help or avoid the area you got killed in until later.
-Autosave: To hopefully tone down the eventual irritation from the 'respawn is gone' above this, I've added in an Autosave. It'll save anytime you level up, beat a mission/quest, or when you sleep. You still have the option to manually save by the way. Now, the game autosaves twice when you choose to sleep, it saves your character BEFORE you sleep (just in case you're killed in your sleep) and as soon as your character wakes up.
-Invulnerability: Players are now invulnerable to attack while they are saving a game manually or when they are choosing their stats to increase when they level up. They are NOT invincible when sleeping however; it's the apocalypse, what else were you expecting? "Oh let's just leave this person alone, they're sleeping." When you load though, you have limited invincibility. This prevents people from killing you over and over to gain experience, and gives you a chance to either run, report them, or fight back.
-Sleeping: Yes, no more black screens and instant wake-ups like the other games. Your character will sleep, and for each hour they sleep it will take a minute in real time for them to sleep (8 hours = 8 minutes in real life, obviously). You CAN be killed while you sleep.
-Time: Time will go by at the rate of 1 hour in game = 1 minute in our time. This way, people that sleep will still be synched with the world around them.
-Stealing: Players CAN steal from each other, but they are only allowed to steal things that aren't equipped (no possible way you can steal the jacket I'm WEARING, if you can, holy crap). Among the things that can't be stolen are quest items that can't be collected in the world (i.e. special items given by an NPC) and equipped items. I'm still trying to decide if stealing will change when it comes to sleeping players.
That is all on the features for now, I'll be sure to update when I can. Until then, goodbye.
