There once was a woman who every Sunday night would walk her dog to church to listen to the sermon. She tried to take her husband along with her too, but he wouldn't have anything to do with it. After years of going to church with just her dog, the woman passed away. But still every Sunday night, the dog would leave the house and go to the church. After a few days of this, the man became curious of where the dog went to and followed him. When he saw the dog go into a church and sit down in the aisle, he was surprised. Of course the dog was probably just used to the routine that he and the man's wife did every Sunday for years. But while the man was there, he heard the Gospel being spoken. And it spoke to his heart. He then knew that for all of his life he had been a fool to reject God. He had assumed the wrong things about religion. It actually made sense when he listened to the words that the preacher was saying.
Then the preacher asked everyone to bow their heads and search their hearts. He gave them an invitation to come forward and ask Jesus Christ into their lives if they had not yet done such. The man knew he was a sinner. And he wanted to be saved. He got up and walked down the aisle that day and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savor. And every Sunday after that, he and the dog went to church.
My friend, people can change. But they need help to. Not everyone knows what's right from wrong. If a dog could help lead a man to God, then why can't we? There will be hard cases. But we were put on this earth to help lead lost people to God. I encourage you today to go out and tell someone about God. Who knows how much time we have left in this world. Lets make our time worth something.
And for those of you who aren't yet saved like the man in this story, maybe you should search your heart. Don't be afraid to ask someone about the Bible. Maybe they can help you. Try listening to the preacher next time you go to church. I promise you, you will not be sorry when you start to believe in your Heavenly Father and are saved. It'll be the best thing that's ever happened to you.
