So, my old laptops hard drive started flipping out and making clicking noises. I had just about had it. That was the third problem that I was going to fix on that thing, and there were sure to be more. So, I just decided that it was time to buy a new laptop. I went to Wal-Mart, and was surprised to see a Compaq Presario CQ56 for $289.99. That's very cheap for something that's not a netbook!
Naturally, the installed operating system was Windows 7. I bought it, brought it home, and immediately tested Ubuntu 10.10 on it, but wouldn't ya know? The wireless didn't work. I ran terminal commands and installed drivers and added to system files, but it simply would not connect.
I went to Windows 7 to connect to the internet to find answers... and then I forgot about Ubuntu completely. I ******** loved Windows 7. It's amazing! It's fast and responsive, Internet Explorer 9 doesn't crash when I open more than three tabs, and it even plays zOMG! beautifully! The features are outstanding and convienient, and suggest you look into what it can do.
So, sorry Linux... Windows has come a long way to get to this point, and it is a very good point. I'll be sticking to Windows 7, even if only for the time being.
