This time, I'll be discussing spheres. surprised How do you make a circle go from it's 2-D form to a 3-D masterpiece??! Well, Imma show you :3
Step 1: Draw a Circle
Well That Was Easy! :3
Step 2: Choose A Color
Again, Fairly straightforward and easy.
Step 3: Add Some Shading
For the shadow on a simple sphere, it's best to determine where your light source is coming from and place the shadow on the opposite side. In this case, I wanted the light to shine from the top right-hand corner of the picture, so my shadow is on the bottom of the sphere.
Make sure you stick with the same color you used for the base, just change the shade to a darker one in order to create the shadow effect.
Step 4: Add the Shine~!
So, since you know where your light source is at this point, put some white blotches facing the source. Two or three should be good enough to get the point across that it is shiny. :3
Step 5: Touching Up and Finishing
Re-shape some of your shadows and shines if need be; I like to keep my shading in a sort of "crescent moon shape," so I thinned out it's ends to make it more precise.
Next, I lightened the color of my shade and made another blotch in the middle to attempt to create a glass effect.
I then added a very light shade of blue around the shine in order to finish it off and give it a polished look.
Ta-dah! You have turned a circle into a sphere~!! :3
