I wrote this for school but it got rejected, so I wonder what you think of it
Quidditch is a popular and fun past time for many people. Quidditch is easy to understand, but a tad difficult to play. Quidditch can be played in many different places. And Even muggles play a form of Quidditch.
Some popular sport's can be confusing, but Qudditch is a popular sport and is actually pretty easy to learn the rules of. First of all it's importent to know the differences between the three different balls. The quaffle is reddish brown and is the biggest ball, about the size of a basket ball. It's tossed from chaser to chaser and is used to score goals. Only one quaffle is out during the game. Next are the bludgers, they are black, about half the size of the quaffle, and are considerably harder. They fly around and try to knock players off of their brooms. There are two of them in the field at a time. Finnaly is the smallest and fastest ball, the snitch. It's more than half the size of a bludger, about the size of a golf ball, and is gold. It has wings that help it to fly all over the quidditch field making it hard to catch. The differences of the balls are important because they help with scoreing points. There are two ways to score points. The first and easiest way is by scoring goals. You score a goal by getting the quaffle through one of the three hoops on the other teams side. Getting the quaffle through one of these three hoops is worth ten points. Once a goal is scored the teams go back to their hoops and the team that didn't get the goal starts with the ball. The other way is considerably harder. The other way is to catch the snitch. catching the snitch is worth one-hundred fifty points, but since it's the smallest and fastest ball it makes it a tricky task. There are four different types of players on the field, each one is responsible for their own tasks and each are very important. The first one is the Chaser, there are three of them playing for each team. Their job is to score points by getting the quaffle into the goals. They are often the most active players during the game and pass the quaffle to each other while trying to keep it away from the other team. The other team can try and take the quaffle from them by intercepting tosses, or taking it from the other team, usually by force. A keeper is also important on the team. They stay by the goal hoops and try to stop the quaffle from going in. They fly around near the hoops and catch the Quaffles heading towards the goals. There is one keeper on each team. The beaters are responsible for the bludgers. While the bludgers aim for players on their own the beaters can hit them with their bats and aim them at players from other teams. The beaters can also protect members of their team from bludgers heading towards them. Beaters can hit bludgers at the other team's chasers trying to get goals, and they can hit bludgers at keepers when their team is trying to score, there are two beaters on each team. The last member of the team is the Seeker. The seekers are the ones who catch the snitch earning their teams the one-hundred fifty points. Seekers stay out of the main game to look for, and try to catch, the snitch. There is one seeker on each team. Once the snitch is caught the game is ended so seekers are very important members of the team. The game of of quidditch is played on broom sticks, no specific broom stick is required and brooms are often not provided. When a player gets a foul then the other team gets a free shot, with the keepers still protecting the goal. Fouls are often called when a player on one team hurts another player not currently involved. For example, if the beater were to hit the other teams keeper with a bludger while the quaffle wasn't within scoring distance then the beater's team would be fouled(Sorcerer).
Quidditch is a popular sport that's played in many places around the world and is followed by many people. Quidditch even has it's own World Cup. The World Cup is an event many people travel around the world to watch. Having so many people around the world wanting to travel so they could watch normaly causes a problem. So the Ministry of Magic from the country hosting the Quidditch World Cup is in charge of transportation. The most popular way to get to the World Cup is by using a portkey. Portkeys are the best way to get many people to a place at the same time. Portkeys are often item that normal people think of as junk so they don't accidentally get transported to where ever the portkey leads to, including the World Cup. To use a portkey you simply have to be touching the item and ,at a designated time, the portkey will transport it's users to the destination the portkey is supposed to take them. During the world cup there are people in charge of monitoring the place that the portkey is designed to take them, to make sure that noone accidentaly got brought with the portkey. Another popular mode of transpertation is apperating. Apperating is considerably more dangerous then using a portkey and requires a license to do. It is also considerably more difficult. Apperating is where wizards or witches, who have passed their test, spin on the spot and transport themselves to another location. It's highly dangerous and if it's not done right the person apperating could end up splicing themselves, which is where they leave part of their body where they were before apperating.Other methods of transportation aren't used often, but may still be used(Goblet). The Knight Bus is a bus that travels from place to place using a method simular to apperation, it carries passangers anywhere around the world as long as it's on land. They just stick out their wand hand when they want to travel on it(Prisoner). Other then the methods mentioned before, magical means of transportation (including but not limited to flying by brooms, apperating in non designated areas, flying carpets, and flu powder) are not alowed as they may attract attention of people who are not part of the magical community. Flying on brooms, while simple, festive, and more enjoyible, is too noticable. Some people my choose to travel non magicaly. For example people who live close enough to the world cup could choose to walk there. Those who don't live close could use planes, trains, cars, and other modes of nonmagical transportation. Another one of the Ministry of magic's jobs during the World Cup is security. The ministry is in charge of making sure that members of the non magical community are unaware of the events going in the World Cup, and to make sure they still don't know about the magical community. They also make sure that people don't use their magic to cause trouble for the game, the workers, or each other. How long someone stays at the place hosting the world cup depends on your ticket, everyone spends one night at least. They stay at a campground and have to use regular looking tents. They're space is reserved ahead of time. There are lots of merchants going around saleing stuff to help veiw the world cup, and Quidditch related stuff. The better the seat is, the higher up it is, since Quidditch is played in the air. The ministry and other officials get the highest seats right at the same leval as the goals(Goblet). Quidditch is also often played at schools, one such school is Hogwarts. At Hogwarts they have a competition between the four houses (Gryffindor, Hufflepuff, Ravenclaw, and Slitheren) in which they compete for points to get the house cup. Winners of the house cup will get there names on a trophy in the trophy room. The Houses also have another compitition where they earn points based on good things and lose points based on if they do bad things. Qudditch matches earn them the amount of points they earned from the match. Quidditch can also be played at home if they have a secluded area to play it, and equipment(Sorcerer).
Muggles even have their own version of Quidditch to play. A Muggle is a person who can't do magic, and are often kept away from the magical community. They can't fly on brooms or perform spells (Sorcerer). But, they do have a game simular to wizard Quidditch known as Ground (or Muggle) Quidditch. Ground Quidditch's rules are simular to those of wizard Quidditch, except a few changes have been made so Muggles can play it. First of all it's played on the ground instead of in the air. Rules very depending where it's played, for starts it can be decided whether or not people hold brooms while playing, but for the most parts they're similur. A soccer ball is used instead of a Quaffle, but it still gets thrown from chaser to chaser. Beaters throw dogde balls at players instead of hitting bludgers. Seekers rules are based on the enviroment it's being played, if it's in a field a flag or a golf ball is hidden before the game, but if it's on cement or wood then someone will play the snitch. It can be played almost anywhere, some Collages have Ground Quidditch teams, and some camps do as well. Some people will play it at outings with their friends and families (How).
In Conclusion, Quidditch is easy to learn, Quidditch can be played in many different places, and even Muggles can play Quidditch. All of those different things help to make Quidditch the popular sport it is today.
