I tried watching some of Syfy's Riverworld, figuring missing the behhining wouldn't be a big deal as I grew up with those books. Hah! The movie seems to take place in the same world with some of the same characters, but it has next to nothing to do with, you know, the plot. It's like someone explained the concept to them, but they completely failed to understand why people did what they did, who the villains were, the point of the whole thing....
