Forgetting my Past
[Forgetting the Past]

”My daughter, you are my legacy, you are the one I trust to surpass me now, you are the one I leave everything to…”

The man that lay in the bed stared at the young girl of only ten, gripping her hand tightly, his breath weak as glazed eyes closed. Soft blue eyes stared at the man’s face as his breath stopped, the small machine he was hooked to letting out a high pitched beep, long and unwavering, making her eyes water. “Daddy?” she questioned, holding his limp hand tightly, shaking it, “daddy.. Answer me..” Still nothing. Eyes closed as she pressed her forehead against the man’s chest, tears running down flushed cheeks as she held onto him, begging for him to come back.

“Lucy.”

The bright blue eyes opened, looking over to the man that stood in the doorway, he gripping a hat and coat in his arm. By the way he spoke and stood she knew that he was obviously a man of money, he handing over the coat and hat in his hands to the man beside him, stepping into the room. He knelt next to the girl, touching the man’s hand, sighing faintly. “Come, my child, he’s gone,” he stated, she holding onto the man tighter, “no, he’s not gone… he’s fine..” she murmured softly, holding the man tightly. “Lucy, please…” he begged softly, “your father was a good man, he’s left your care in my hands, and I promise you that I’ll try to be as good of a father as he was.” Leaning back some she stared at the body of the man, pushing a hand against her cheeks, wiping the tears from her eyes before she stood. Lifting her hand she looked up to the newest man in the room, he taking her’s in his own, the two then stepping from the room.

“Lucy! Hurry up!”

Dark blue eyes stared at the female that was running ahead of her, the girl pushing herself up from the ground to chase after her, sword at her side. “Did you see where he went?” she asked, the blonde shaking her head, curls bouncing as she ran, “Missy should be right by him though.” Lifting a hand to her ear Lucy spoke, “Missy, you see him?” she demanded, everything silent before the bud in her ear answered. “Yeah, little b***h is running down main street, I’ll try and lead him off of the main roads,” she stated, the two other females hurrying up to try and get to where the other was. Both soon stopped, watching as the familiar man ran towards them, huffing, out of breath, eyes widening as he saw the two. Turning he tried in the other direction, the redheaded female blocking his path, wiggling her fingers in a wave as she giggled.

Lucy was the one that stepped forwards, heels clicking on the stone ground as she moved closer. She had grown up in the last ten years, body lean and long, covered in the slick black leather suit as she moved closer. When close enough she watched the man as he fell to his knees, “please… I’m sorry..” he whined softly, the dark haired female lifting the blade and touching it to his throat. “It doesn’t even matter, anymore..” she stated, the male staring at her with wide eyes, swallowing hard. With a quick movement she had swiped the blade through the air, slicing his head clean from his shoulders, stepping to his body as it fell to the ground. Wiping the sword onto his shirt she grimaced, obviously irritated with blood on her weapon before she sheathed it. “C’mon Lucy! Father is waiting!” the redhead called, waving to her, she hurrying up to follow after.

When back home at the large manor she went through the doors, moving down the halls to the large room where the familiar man sat and spoke with one of the many workers. “I need to speak with you..” she demanded, the other looking at her before dismissing the man, straightening as he stared up at her. “I’m leaving.. I can’t keep killing people..” she stated, the man’s brows lifting before he laughed. “You can’t just leave… you belong to me, I won’t let you go..” he informed, her eyes narrowing. “I don’t have to listen to you anymore.. I’m leaving.” And with that she turned, stepping towards the doors, “if you leave now, you’ll regret it..” She smiled, “I’ll take my chances.”

With that, she was gone, forgetting her life she left behind.

Five years later the past was gone, she forced herself to forget everything, to start a family. She had married a man and made up a brand new past for herself, never telling him anything of what she used to be. She had had a child, a beautiful baby girl, blonde hair like her father’s, bright blue eyes like her mother, little baby Nila. She was Lucy’s life, her world, everything to her. Yet all good things come to an end. Coming home one night she found the door open a crack, pushing it open fully, hesitating, looking around. “David?” she called, the silence stopping her heart. Normally Nila would be crying up a storm when she got home, wanting to see her mother. But now, everything was as quiet as death. “Is anyone here?” she questioned, stepping into the living room, her body frozen at the sight. There, in a puddle of his own blood, lay her husband, unmoving, eyes wide open as he stared blankly towards her.

The shock wore off enough to tell her to run to the baby’s room, to make sure Nila was alright. Dropping the bags she held she ran down the hall, pushing open the door, falling to her knees as she stared at the sight. The baby lay in the crib, not moving, not breathing, not crying. Staggering to her feet she stepped over towards the crib, reaching in to pick up the baby, her body shaking as she stared at her. “No… not my baby..” she sobbed softly, holding the girl against her chest as she fell to the ground, letting out screams of pain as she gripped the child. Her screams were heard and the police rushed in, finding the woman hysterical, unable to stop crying, not wanting to let go of the baby. After an inspection of the home the men found a note, handing it to her, she being the only one to understand.

‘You can’t run from your past’

A year had passed and she had done nothing to start a new life, spending her nights alone and her days working, wanting to have nothing to do with the world. She knew that soon they would come after her too… and when they did, she would be ready. Sitting in a bar the clock ticked away, it would be midnight soon, but she was in no hurry to leave. The glass in her had was filled with glass and the dark brown liquid, lifting it to her lips, taking a long drink of the strong booze. Her body was clothed in dark jeans and a white blouse, weapons hidden all over her form, ready for anything. But something was off, she could feel someone staring, someone watching her, and as she sipped her drink she tried to brush it off.
