I have always been partial to carnations. This very simple and often downgraded flower holds particular meaning in my heart. I had childhood memories of carnations that have stuck with me. For this story I wanted to call it “Carnations” because not only are they important to me but they will have an important part in the story. They will act as a particular symbol, motif, and catalyst for events to come.
The original concept for this entire story came from a dream. I get my best ideas from dreams actually. I have also realized through growing and learning that flowers are always a reoccurring object in my dreams. There is a specific scene that I dreamt originally with my character laying in a bush of carnations. More about this will be apparent through the story.
