Sera's Public Journal
If you don't like it, don't comment on it. I might vent or rant. I'm not immune to certain stresses, and this doesn't really help. You CAN NOT and WILL NOT hold me responsible if you're a subject of this journal. Cmon, it's not like anyone will know.
6/21/10 My New Mug!
Jun 9th, 2010: Emotes and DPs are back up on my MSN. I had to do it TWICE because my Mom made a new user for me. So I had to work pretty hard... Alot of my music is missing, I didn't/can't transfer Playlists from my old Ipod or music because computer's a b***h and the only programs that do that are online, and they cost money. (I feel like going out and strangling whoever didn't build in the feature to recover playlists. -.-)I went to Laurel Street Arts today because a while back, I had broken a mug that I had made at Color Me Mine down in Los Altos. (I was like, 14. I didn't have experience in glazing bisqueware and it turned out all crappy, but I loved it anyhow, and it broke because I accidentally bumped it... But I took Ceramics in my Sophomore this year in High School, learned how to glaze properly. I had to ask alot of questions. Did they wax their ceramics? Did they low fire it? High fire it? Did they actually use glaze, or did they use paint? [They DO use glaze. They just refer to it as paints because kids have peabrains and can't comprehend it.] How did they fire it, and for how long? Did they use lead based glaze? [You can't use lead based glaze on anything that you're going to put food or drink in. It's not safe to bring a young kid into a house where there's ceramics with lead based glazes, either. ******** no, they said essentially. Even if you can't get a really good Red glaze without using lead. They do not use lead based glazes. And yes, they don't have any good reds. Not to mention it's a family place, so they regularly get little kids running around and putting their mouths on everything. So it turns out they low fire it, they don't wax but they cover the pieces with clear glaze afterwards.) So this old mug of mine, it was one of the huge ones you could like, stuff a pint of ice cream in. But this new one, it can fit a can of soda in it. (And it's as tall as a can of soda, too!I wanted something smaller since I'm on a diet.)I painted it Irish Green as the base color (Two even coats. Usually it's three, but I paint thickly so it's like four.)used one of those little bottles with a narrow needle tip to paint on intertwining and scraggly wavy vines onto it (The Color? I think it was Toad-ily Green. Lighter than Irish Green, because otherwise it wouldn't show up too well. Coulda used Leapin' Lizards, but it was blue-ish.)then took another bottle (Sour Apple, it was called. It was lighter than Irish Green and Toad-ily Green, but together they looked nice.) and painted on pointed leaves as well as I could. (Where did I get the idea to use vines, you ask? I wanted something like my old mug... My old mug was turquoise and green mottled together with no design, and was crappy. I was an FFFreak back then and I modelled it after The Lifestream from FFVII. This time I was inspired by that, Rainforests, and of all things, Luppi from Bleach. XD [Torapadero. Japanese for Ivy Girl, Spanish for Climbing Vine.]) I'm not too sure I did all the leaves well enough, but I did the mug as well as I could... Painted a single vine onto the handle itself, then took some dark water-ish Blue and made what looks to be a pool of water on the inside bottom of the mug. To make it seem like the vines were dipping into the pool.... You guys'll see the mug as soon as I get it back. I'm probably going to take pictures. If I don't, then ask me. On a much darker note, I've been turning OCD... I'm worried about not getting things that need to be done, done, and worrying about things that don't need to be done, done...
